Week 10, Term 1
A special congratulations to our Kindergarten students and parents for getting to the end of your very first term of school. It has been amazing to see how much they have grown and learnt in just 10 weeks. I am sure though, they, and you are looking forward to having some rest and taking time to slow down. Well done Kindergarten!
I would like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday period. Mrs Green is very much looking forward to returning next term and being able to see you in the school grounds.

Farewell Mrs Raines and Mrs Cartland
Today we celebrated the educational achievements of two wonderfully talented teachers from our school.
Mrs Raines started her teaching career in 1979, and joined us here at Artarmon as an EAL/D teacher in 2005. The impact she has had on the students, staff and parents over her time and especially our multicultural community has been nothing short of outstanding.
Mrs Cartland has been teaching since 1968 and joined our team in 1994. In 2002, Mrs Cartland was appointed the permanent teacher librarian at our school and has used this platform to directly impact every students' love of literacy throughout her time here.
To both of these amazing teachers, I know the entire school community sends their best wishes for an healthy, happy and relaxing retirement. Know that your impact in the education of children has been deeply appreciated and we sincerely thank you!
K-2 Pick up starting Term 2
As COVID restrictions ease, we will be moving back to our pre COVID pick up routine, for our students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2.
From the start of Term 2, children will be lined up with their class teacher in the following locations for parents to come and collect their children:
Kindergarten - Abbott Rd COLA
Year 1 - McMillan Playground
Year 2 - Opposite the canteen near the hall.
We will continue to communicate with you all through the SZ app if there are any changes in the future.
Easter Hat Parade
It was so great to have our first COVID safe community event on the oval this week.
Thank you to our community for working with the school to make this event successful.
Crossing Supervisor
As advertised last week, the NSW Government Transport, Roads and Maritime Services have advertised for our very own Crossing Supervisor on McMillan Rd. This is wonderful news for our school community and we are looking forward to having a trained professional at our crossing to help keep our students safe.
They are currently in the recruitment process so if you or anyone you know might be interested in this position please see the advertisement here.
Year 6 Canberra Trip
In Week 9, Year 6 students excitedly departed on their trip into the heart of Australian democracy: Canberra. At the crack of dawn, they made their way onto the buses and settled in for the long journey. On arrival in Canberra, they explored Parliament House and met with the Federal Member of Parliament for our North Sydney electorate, Trent Zimmerman.
The Year 6 students explored a number of different venues over the three days. They had opportunities to learn about the history of Canberra and the process of Federation in Australia. Students also learned about Australia’s representative democracy, the structure of Federal Parliament and the process of preferential voting in an election.
Please enjoy some of the photos taken on the trip!
