Welcome back to Term 2 2021
It is wonderful to back with the Artarmon community and I am looking forward to working with you all this term.
Having our parents back on site in the mornings and afternoons has been wonderful to see. We are almost getting back to normal. Please still remember to observe good hygiene practices and keep social distance if possible.
On the staff development day this term teachers travelled to Lake Parramatta to participate in professional learning. Teachers learnt about sustainability practices used by the Darug culture and how they could integrate idigenous practices into their teaching and learning programs. Uncle Chris lead one of the teacher groups during the day.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help our teachers and students. We are indeed very fortunate to have so many in our community ready to assist.
Parent volunteers will assist in many ways and they will be contacted by the teacher or perhaps even the class parent. Please don't be disheartened if you dont get a call. Teaching /learning programs are planned by class teachers and there may not be as many opportunities as there are parent volunteers.
VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS
Term 2 is the time to start collecting Voluntary Contributions. I have attached an information sheet for those families who are new to our school system.
The P&C work collaboratively with the school to set the contribution levy and assist with communication. Thank you to Aarti Karawal, the P&C representative who is working with the school on behalf of the school community.
PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS 2021
As promised in our P&C meeting the school has planned 2 infrmation sessions this term.
EALD - English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
-Friday 14 May 9.00-10.00am in the School Hall
The NSW public school system - How does it all work?
-Wednesday 26 May 9.00-10.00am in the School Hall
In term 3 we will also be offering information sessions focussing on Literacy and Numeracy.
CALMING ANXIOUS CHILDREN
Dear parents,
The next P&C meeting will be held next week in the School Hall. It will begin with a meet and greet with the School Executive followed by the General Meeting.
This is a great opportunity to meet the Assistant Principal's and Executive team and socialise face to face with some other parents.
I hope to see you there.
Warm regards,
Malvina Crastin
It’s been a whirlwind start to Term 2.
Training Strings have had their first ensemble rehearsals at Tuesday lunch time. My son burst through the door with excited chatter about how fun ensemble rehearsal was. As there were a few missing students, could parents please remind their child about Training Strings ensemble rehearsals that will be held every Tuesday for Term 2, 3 and 4.
Please remind students that they will need to bring their instruments and be ready to go for 1255pm in the music room. It is advisable for the parents to provide a quick lunch, no canteen orders as the rehearsals will be commencing after roll call is taken.
Training Strings students will be provided a music folder which will have all their music they will need to learn for the year and these will need to be returned to Mr Mansukhani at the end of the year. Please ensure these folders are brought every week to rehearsals and are kept in good condition.
If you require to purchase a music bag, please let the instrument coordinator know.
Please keep an eye out for upcoming events and the call out for assistance.
Informative videos to help with string instruments.
These videos will assist with how to tune and take care of the violin. I have found these most helpful to ensure the violin is in tune during practice. Please watch with your child.

Reminders
Please check your email/junk mail for invoice and payment details. If you intend to use Creative Kids vouchers towards payment for Strings fees, please ensure you pay $100 less than the total invoice. Please consider the administration headache for the Strings Team volunteers if you decide later that you would like to use the Creative Kids Voucher. Thanks for your understanding.
