CROSSING SUPERVISOR
SUCCESS AT LAST!
Our new crossing supervisor will begin monitoring the pedestrian crossing on Monday 31 May. Even better news is that the new supervisor is well known to our community and an enthusiastic P&C member.
Congratulations to Janelle Morter!
This role will help to keep all our families safe, so I ask that children and parents follow her instructions and show respect to her contribution to our community.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
In Term 2 each year, teachers complete half yearly assessments with their students. Student Achievement reports will be distributed to parents on 18 June. In the following week parents will be offered a parent/teacher interview either face to face or by phone. Parent Teacher Interview bookings information will be forwarded today so you can make your bookings. Interviews will be held in the school library and each interview lasts for 10 minutes.
LOST STUDENT REPORTS
As we have said earlier in the year we will be unable to reproduce students reports. It takes a lot of admin time for the office staff and that takes away from their other tasks.
Please keep your student achievement reports in a safe place for future reference.
MUSIC CAMP
A big thank you to all our students and families who participated in this event. The camp lasted all weekend and culminated in a very enjoyable concert. Mr Walmsley and Mr Mansukhani spoke about how much the student's musical skills improved over that weekend.

Artarmon Public School is proud to announce that the Life Education Mobile Learning Centre will be here May 27th-June 23rd. The Life Education Program promotes student's physical, social and emotional health and wellbeing. It aims to empower children and young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to make informed decisions about their health. We trust this will be a valuable and exciting educational experience for the children.
For more information and to support this program at home, please visit the Life Education Parents webpage.
Changes to pick up / drop off on McMillan Rd
As a result of the Life Education Van being parked outside the school, we anticipate some disruption/reduction of the McMillan Rd ‘Kiss and Drop’ zone. Please consider alternate drop off points and/or allow more time for pick up/drop off. Also, remind students to use the pedestrian crossing and be extra cautious when crossing the road.
If you would like to order Life Education Merchandise, please see the attached order form or go to the online shop.

WINNING HOUSE: Lawson |
The ONLY place to cross the road safley in front of the school is on the pedestrian crossing.
You children look to you as role models and when you demonstrate the unsafe way to cross , they will think that is ok.
When you cross through busy traffic or between the buses you put your child at risk.
What happens when we don’t get enough sleep?
Many things can be affected when we do not sleep enough such as:
https://kidshealth.org/en/kids/not-tired.html
Behaviour – aggressive, antisocial, withdrawn, hyperactive, unable to control or regulate behaviour
Emotion – Moody, depressed, anxious, stressed, uneasy, unconfident, irritable
Planning – poorly organised, poor time managers, repeating grades, forgets lessons
Concentration – inattentive, lack of concentration, falling behind in school
Creativity – not working at full potential
Problem solving – poor behaviour control and difficulty in social situations
Complicated thinking – struggles with maths, sciences, languages, abstract concepts
Motor coordination – less sporty, more accidents, clumsier
Weight – being obese and overweight is more likely with less sleep
Health – poorer immune system – sicker more often
Learning – it is though that sleep, particularly dream sleep or REM sleep, is necessary for storing certain types of memory, particularly more difficult memories such as mathematical concepts and language.

If you are missing a music stand, please note there are a few in the music room that were not collected after the Weekend intensive.
Strings instruments tuning
With the drop in temperature, this change plays havoc with the instrument being in tune. We have noted a few broken strings which required to be replaced. First point of call, please bring your instrument into the music room at recess as there will always be a string tutor that will be able to assist and tune the instrument.
Eisteddfod recording 27th May 2021
Please note that students will need to be in Music uniform for next Thursday’s Eisteddfod recording.
Please note that Music uniforms will require to be purchased prior this event.
- White point-collar long sleeved shirt (NOT the winter blouse for girls)

Volunteers needed
We still need to fill the following volunteer roles to assist with Strings in 2021/2022:
- STRINGS CO-CONVENOR: Assists Convenor with insurances, instrument purchases, newsflash writeups, replies to email queries, updates MSM portal, event planning, liaises with Strings committee, uniform shop, school and Mr Mansukhani. Takes over the reins of Convenor for a minimum 2 year term. Requires work in your own home. Approximately 2 hours a week.
By volunteering you will be making a valuable contribution to the running of the String program and your child(ren) will love to see you get involved.
If you are interested in volunteering for one of these roles or would like more information, please email strings.artarmonpandc@gmail.com
Reminders
Invoices are required to be paid by the end of March. Failure to do so may mean that your child will not be able to attend ensemble rehearsals from this week. Please check your email/junk mail for invoice and payment details.
All hard copy invoices have been printed and given to those students that are yet to provide payment. Your child will also have a copy of the invoice that has been printed and kept in their music folder.
If you intend to use Creative Kids vouchers towards payment for Strings fees, please ensure you pay $100 less than the total invoice. Please consider the administration headache for the Strings Team volunteers if you decide later that you would like to use the Creative Kids Voucher. Thanks for your understanding.
If you have any questions related to an invoice or payment, email stringstreasurer@gmail.com
Got a question?
If it is about your hired instrument or instrumental tutorial please contact your tutor at first instance.
Alternatively contact our instrument coordinator or strings coordinator if required. For anything else please contact your Strings Convenor.
