Online Learning Week 2
As communicated at the start of the week through the SZapp, we have had a very successful start to our online Google Classrooms. It has been fantastic to have some images and positive messages come through the school email of students learning in their homes.
You may notice this week that our wonderful school admin and support staff have been successful in gaining their first Merit Badge for outstanding effort. They have managed to support our students at school in the classroom and community on any Google Classroom connection issues, password resets, COVID safe collections of school loan devices and answered any question that has come via phone whilst managing the change in circumstances and working conditions themselves. Thank you SASS staff!. We couldn't do it without you. Congratulations on your prestigious award.
Google Classrooms
This week, the students' timetable, work for the week and information to families was posted on Google Classroom on Monday morning. We understand that this may have been difficult to manage for some families at the start of the week and have made a few adjustments to help.
On Friday afternoon, teachers will post timetables, grids and any PDFs that students will need for the following week. This is to allow flexibility in all family settings and help you prepare and be organised for the following week. Students' ability to comment and submit assignments in the Google Classroom will be inactive over the weekend.
Please remember, teachers will still add content throughout the week, including morning posts, video lessons and more. Students are still asked to log on and comment on the morning post each day before 10:00 am to let us know they are engaging in the work at home. If this is not possible for your family, that is ok. Please just use the Schoolzine app to let us know your family are being flexible with the timetable and learning and your child will not be considered as absent on the school roll.
A common question we are receiving is why can't I access the Google Classrooms with my personal or family Gmail account? Only students using their education email accounts can access these rooms.
School Music Groups
It has been wonderful to see our Band, Strings and Guitar groups move to online tutoring and continue their programs. A big thank you to all parent convenors, music directors and tutors for supporting our school programs online.
School Invoices
As you would imagine we have had to cancel our upcoming excursions and extracurricular programs booked for students this term.
We understand that some programs and activities were prepaid for Term 3, including chess, Years 3-6 sport and PSSA. We are currently working through who has been impacted by this and will communicate how reimbursement or credits will work soon.

Informative videos to help with string instruments.
These videos will assist with how to tune and take care of the violin. I have found these most helpful to ensure the violin is in tune during practice. Please watch with your child.
