NAPLAN 2022 The National Assessment Program
National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. All NSW schools will sit NAPLAN online in 2022. Our school will be participating in NAPLAN between 10 and 20 May 2022. In preparation for NAPLAN, our school will also be participating in practice tests between Monday 21 March and Friday 1 April. The practice test is a trial run and key preparation activity for NAPLAN in May. It is not an assessment of student ability, and the tests will not be marked. Excessive preparation for NAPLAN is not recommended. Students can use the public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in NAPLAN. If you have any concerns, please contact the office.
More information on NAPLAN online can be found here. naplan_information_brochure_for_parents_and_carers.pdf
CHECK-IN ASSESSMENT FOR YEARS 4 AND 6
Year 4 and 6 students have participated in a reading and numeracy check-in assessments. The check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online reading and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning. The assessments can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs.
Harmony Day Monday 21st March 2022
Our school celebrates cultural diversity, and over 85% of our student population come from non-english speaking backgrounds.
This year, Harmony Week is being celebrated from the 21st – 27th March. Harmony Week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
As a school we will be acknowledging Harmony Week by wearing a touch of orange or students can wear their cultural dress on Monday 21st March.
Why orange? Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.
Students will be participating in activities during the week in classrooms that help spread the important message that everyone belongs.

Step 1. Apply for a voucher for your child on the Service NSW website: go to https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-creative-kids-voucher.
