OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW SCHOOL FACILITIES
Our new school hall will be opened by the Hon Anthony Roberts on Friday this week.
The communication to families has caused some concern and confusion. It was never our intention to exclude community members from the ceremony.
All are welcome. however, there may not be available seating for all.
We also want as many students as possible to attend so Yr 5 & 6 students will participate.
Please feel free to come and join us. We will fill as many seats as possible inside and have the external speakers working as well.
Following the opening we will have some fun activities for the students to participate in.
Our special guests will include:
the Hon Anthony Roberts MP, Minister for Lane Cove
Mr Trent Zimmerman, Member for North Sydney
Ms Giles-Gidney, Mayor Willoughby Council
Sue Low , Director Public Schools NSW
Daniel Mc Dougall, P&C President
Peter McNally, Senior Project Director, Schools Infrastructure
Parents and executive that have been involved in the project over the past 10 years
The official ceremony will begin at 9.30am and our Senior Band and Senior String groups will be performing.
SCHOOL CHOIRS
In 2019 there will be two choirs at Artarmon PS.
The Cowan Choir will include Yr 2 students
Kameraigal Choir will include students in Yrs 3-6.
Rehearsals will take place in the classroom above the Uniform shop on the following days:
Cowan Choir 8.00am-8.30am each Wednesday
Kameraigal Choir 8.00am-8.30am each Monday.
Choirs will begin next week.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Interviews will continue today in the school Library. They were very successful yesterday and teachers spoke of the value of meeting parents and gaining a deeper understanding of the children in their classes.
COMMUNICATION - SCHOOLZINE APP
The app is an extremely important way for us to communicate with families. Please ensure you check any messages carefully and promptly as it can avoid confusion.
STUDENT INVOICES
Student invoices and reminders have gone out over the past two weeks. The first invoice for the year is the most expensive and it includes camp for Yrs 5 & 6 students.
The yr 5 camp is coming up next week so it is critical that students have paid for camp. Please contact the school office if there are any issues that may make it difficult for you so we can discuss any support that may be available.
Invoice reminders will go out again today.
CLASS PARENTS
A big thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to be the class parent. This is a very important role within the school. We are currently finalising the names and will email those parents involved to invite them to a morning tea on Tuesday 5 March at 9.00am in the school hall.
Band parents, please check Newsflash weekly for the latest news, we will publish advance dates as soon as we know them to help you plan your year!

Band Committee Meeting and AGM – Come along to hear what's happening in band
We hold a band committee meeting once per term. The term 1 meeting will be held on Monday 25 February at 6.45pm in the music room, combined with the band Annual General Meeting (AGM). At the AGM we appoint the 2019 committee members, then at the termly meeting we review the band's activities and plan upcoming band events. All band parents are welcome to attend any meeting, come along to catch up on what's happening in band and find out how you can help – remember, band is run by parent volunteers! We still have roles to fill for 2019, vacant roles include: Co-Convener, Festivals Coordinator, Band Intensive Coordinator, Easter Breakfast Concert Coordinator, Band Camp Coordinator(s), End of Year Concert Coordinator. Many of these roles are not very time consuming and can be done in your own time to fit in around work and family commitments. Perhaps you can find a friend and share a role?

Kindy Newsletter Report
Our 2019 Kindergarten students have settled into school routines very quickly. They have enjoyed getting to know their teachers and their new kindergarten friends.
Some of key focuses for our Kindergarten students are; learning to be independent and cooperating with others, participating in small groups, working independently and following directions.
Many of our kindergarten classes have begun working in rotational learning groups. Small rotational groups give teachers a chance to focus in on small group learning goals.
Here are some photos of our kindy students participating in small group work.
Creative Kids Voucher
The Artarmon P&C music program is now a registered provider of the $100 Creative Kids voucher, thanks to some swift action by some pro-active parents. This means the NSW government will reimburse you $100 off your music fees for the year. This applies only to school ensemble fees, not tuition fees.
If you will be taking advantage of this, your first step is to:
Apply for a voucher for your child on the Service NSW website: go to https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-creative-kids-voucher.
When you receive the invoice later this week, you will then be given instructions on how to incorporate the voucher.
