As we venture into another last week of Term, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for their continuous collaborative professionalism and focus on our students and how we, as a school, can create and deliver quality teaching and learning experiences to every child. They have gone above and beyond again this term and it was wonderful to see our teachers sharing your children's successes and next steps during our parent teacher interviews this week. Please take this upcoming holiday to rest and recharge the batteries. Your children have worked extremely hard this term and will again next term. Quality time spent with family and friends should be your priority over the holidays.
24 HOUR INDUSTRIAL ACTION - TOMORROW
As was communicated earlier in the week, tomorrow, Thursday 30 June, the NSW Teaches Federation are holding a 24hr stop work meeting
Artarmon Public School will only be able to provide VERY minimal supervision at school on this day and no teaching and learning activities,
TEACHER VS STUDENT GAME
The staff wellbeing committee, with the help of the SRC, have been organising some nice surprises for our teachers in the last week of term. Today's event was a fantastic Teacher vs Student game of bin ball on the oval.
There were smiling faces from both teachers and students (as well as a healthy dose of competitiveness!) It says a lot about the staff at Artarmon that using their lunch time to play with the students is something that they consider to a benefit to their own wellbeing. You'll be please to note that the teachers were victorious 6-0.
Thank you to Ms Prowse, Ms Thompson and Mr Johnson for organising.
Year 5 and 6 History Fair
How wonderful it was to be involved with the Stage 3 students presenting their History projects to everyone this afternoon. I was blown away by the students quality of work and the learning journey they had been on to produce such wonderful assignmenmts. Congratulations to all students!
Key Dates Term 3
Take time to go through some of the key dates and add to your calendar for next term.
CANTEEN CLOSED-THURSDAY AND FRIDAY
Please be advised that our canteen will be closed tomorrow, Thursday 30th June and Friday 1st July due to canteen staff shortages.
As such there will be NO LUNCH ORDERS on Thursday or Friday. Please make sure your child/ren bring their recess and lunch from home.
The P&C run sausage sizzle will go ahead as normal on Friday.
YEAR 5 are budding AUTHORS!
For the past six years, Year 5 students across Willoughby have participated in the ‘Our Local Wildlife’ Short Story Competition. The winning stories and artworks have been complied in several published books.
This year, Artarmon Public School Year 5 students have been assigned the Little Forest Bat (Vespadelus vulturnus) as their focus animal. Each story they write needs to try and discuss one or more of the following-an interesting fact about the animal, the place where the animal might live in Willoughby, what could be done to improve its habitat or the special ways in which it protects itself from predators, finds food or attracts mates.
The short stories are aimed at younger readers. 5JM went to visit 2SB to conduct some research and find out what younger students like to read! While we were visiting, we also applied our editorial skills to help the students in 2SB perfect their stories.
For students that were away on photo days and missed their individual shots, The School Photographer has offered a studio day in their office at Seven Hills. Their next studio day will be Tuesday 5th July (first week in the school holidays). Please call 9674 9824 to make a booking.
Round 7 Netball Game Reports
Friday 24th June 2022
Team 1 Artarmon vs Northbridge
Score: 23 - 7 (Win) Scorers: Matthew, Amelie, Elisya, Jet Match report: Our adaptation to the challenges was what we did well the most as we realised that some people had not been substituted off before. Sophia tried GD and was amazing as she saved lots of goals. Elisya tried to shoot and somehow did well. Something that we could improve on would be that we need to stick to our players. As always, our main shooters, especially Amelie, did awesome.

Team 2 Artarmon vs Mowbray
Score: 10 - 3 (Loss) Scorers: Nicholas, Jalla, Yolanda, Deborah Match report: We were versing Mowbray this week and lost. We had great attack however our defence was not as good. We could have improved on our defences and spreading our players.
Written by Deborah Leong
|
Team 3 Artarmon vs Momsan
Score: 21 - 0 (Win) Scorers: Jalla, Audrey, Yolanda Match report: This week our defending went well. We were pulled up for stepping a few times and obstruction once. Next week our focus will be on more accurate passing.
Written by Audrey Li-Ouyang
|
Team 4 Artarmon vs Greenwich
Score: 5 - 3 (Loss) Scorers: Kaylee, Naomi Match report: We did our best to defend and did it quite well. Some of our group intercepted the ball amazingly and scored 3 goals. Everyone played their positions fabulously. We might need to work on trying to get in front of our defenders. I think Aliza did the best intercepting and helped us move towards our goal.

|
Team 5 Artarmon vs Mosman
Score: 15 - 5 (Win) Scorers: Aarush, William, Rochelle Match report: In the match, William scored his first goal as goal attack. He also did well as centre and defended many people. Maya swooped in multiple times and knocked the ball towards her team. In the second half, Maggie intercepted a lot. Aarush scored the majority of the goals and kept on trying his best.
Written by Rochelle Tao
|
Team 6 Artarmon vs Lane Cove
Score: 23 - 0 (Win) Scorers: Emily, Amanda, Emma Match report: This week we ran away from the defenders and communicated well. One of the highlights was Emma shooting for the first time. Lane Cove rarely got the ball to their shooting ring. We did really well this week!
