MY DAY AS PRINCIPAL - ARIANE TOW
On Wednesday, 24th of May, I had the opportunity to be principal for a day. I was sitting in class when there was an announcement over the loudspeaker. “Ariane Tow, also known as Principal Tow, please come to the office.”
When I arrived, I was immediately set to work, designing a principal’s award for me to use throughout the day and for Mr Coombes to continue to use throughout the year.
Before the day started, I was asked to choose a topic that I am passionate about and believed important for students to think about when learning and growing and share in assemblies and classes. The topic I chose was, the importance of decision making and how it can impact your daily life.
As Principal I went around to different classrooms, spoke about choices and got to view outstanding work and reward students with special stickers and a certificate.
After recess, we walked down to the shops to purchase hot chocolate and coffee for the office staff. We then attended the Stage 1 and 3 assemblies where I spoke to the students about my topic 'The important of decision making'. It was also my pleasure to present to students their merit and You Can Do It awards recognising students for their effort, achievement and impact at Artarmon PS.
In the afternoon I became the teacher of 1BC and taught them how to use creative thinking skills when using blue-bots. The problem given was to get the blue-bot to follow set instructions. Some issues with technology were encountered so we improvised and the students became their own blue-bots!
It was a fabulous day and I hope that Mr Coombes had as much fun as I did.

MUSIC INTENSIVE THANK YOU
A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers and music committee for their efforts to organise such a successful music intensive over the weekend. STUDENT INVOICES AND SCHOOL BYTES PORTAL
Today emails were sent to those families with outstanding term invoices. All financial information is viewable and payable in your School Bytes portal. If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Today was the first day of Aboriginal Education incursions provided by the Muru Mittigar Group.
During this week and next week, all classes, K-6, will be participating in this incursion. Trained Aboriginal facilitators from across Dharug Country are delivering a program which focuses on various aspects of Aboriginal culture, history, traditions and protocols, tailored to align with stage-appropriate Key Learning Areas.
This incursion aims to provide an enriching and transformative experience, fostering cultural understanding, appreciation and respect.
The students that have attended today have had a great time getting involved in the different activities.
All students visit the library each week for borrowing. Students are encouraged to borrow up to 4 books every week. Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 have a one week loan period and students in Years 3 to 6 have a three week loan period. We have many fantastic books that are just waiting to be borrowed! Please encourage your child to borrow regularly.
ALL Library books should be returned to the library before school,
Monday to Friday 8:25 – 8:55am.
Congratulations to the following students who have recently completed the Challenge!

Zone Cross Country 2023
All the students going to cross country headed out and met the teachers taking us, near the flags. After the teachers checked the roll we headed on the bus. After a five minute bus ride we arrived at Blackman Park (the place we ran at for cross country). We set up our area and then walked the track once, after everyone made it back to their areas then the first race began. Everyone cheered on their schoolmates, friends and encouraged everyone while waiting for their race.
The race started by the organisers checking every single student participating in the race who was there. They then lined us up in the order we came in from our school cross country. They gave us a bit of time to stretch and warm up and do a little jog on the spot before the race. We then were led to the starting line and then the race began after the starting gun was fired. After the day ended all the students gave a helping hand to their teachers by packing up the equipment we used. Then we caught a bus back to school.
Overall it was a very fun day for everyone and everyone who participated did amazing, thanks to their hardworking teachers.
Audrey Grace and Emily Fineff 4JD
We are looking forward to our Parent / Teacher interviews later this term.
Please see below PDF for class dates and session booking instructions.
Please note that there is only one interview per student so if both parents would like to attend, they must attend at the same time.
BOOKINGS OPEN FRIDAY 2ND JUNE AT 3:00 PM AND CLOSE ON MONDAY 26TH JUNE AT 9:00 AM.
Hi Parents,
Please find attached an invite to our first Fathering Project Dad's Only event, an opportunity for dads to get to know each other.
We are very lucky to have in our Fathering community an award winning micro brewer, Aziz Tan. He has graciously agreed to host a Brewing science and tasting evening that we are calling Brewing and Beer.
This is a limited ticket event and we suspect there will be a high level of interest, so dads get in early!
