Dear Artarmon community,
As I type this I can't believe it is already the middle of Week 8 and we are not long off the next school term break where we can all rest and recover. Before that though, there is a lot happening in the next couple of weeks and we are looking forward to wrapping up the term and celebrating our students through their academic reports and parent / teacher interviews.
ACADEMIC REPORTS
As teachers are completing their final touches on individual students’ Semester One academic reports, I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank them for their time, effort and care in compiling these formal reports for our families.
Reports will be published in your SchoolBytess Portal on Thursday Week 9, 27 June and viewable under the documents tab.
We will also post a reminder on Thursday once published to remind you to check your portal for details.
If you haven’t yet downloaded the SchoolBytes appp, please do so to make viewing and sharing the document with family much easier.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
If you have not yet booked your parent/teacher interview, please do so ASAP through theSchoolBytes appp or portal. These interviews are a time for the teacher to elaborate or explain in more detail your child’s individual academic achievement along with their work habits and attitude to learning in the classroom.
STRING & GUITAR ENSEMBLES AT THE EISTEDDFOD
Congratulations to all the String and Guitar ensembles who competed in the Sydney Eisteddfod last week. I was lucky enough to accompany the groups last Tuesday and was blown away by their maturity and skill travelling and performing in such a large competition. For some of our students, this was the first time they have competed in such an event and the results were OUTSTANDING!
- Concert Sting – 2nd Place.
- Snr String - Highly Commended
- Junior String – Highly Commended (Same category as Concert Strings)
- Guitar Group - (Same category as Concert Strings)
YOUNG ARCHIE EXHIBITION
Congratulations to all Stage 3 students who through their Creative Arts syllabus this term, have completed a series of lessons and skill development to create their very own ‘Young Archie’ piece to go into our National Artarmonn Gallery (located in the hall). I was blown away by the detail, skill and talent our students have shown throughout this process and it was so wonderful to see our parents here supporting us on Tuesday afternoon. A huge thank you to the Year 5 and 6 teachers for all their organisation and effort in this great initiative and especially to Ms Bonnett.
A true celebration of our students and their amazing talents.
Enjoy a virtual walkthrough of the National Artarmon Gallery.
ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN 2025
Enrolments are now open for Kindergarten 2025. If you have a little one at home or know of friends/family who live in our catchment area, please use the Department's online enrolment form or you can access through the enrolment tab on the school website.
TERM 3 DATES
One of our newsletter highlights is always the next term's important dates. Please see below to add to your diary and remember to use our Schoolbytes calendar to sync any special events.
LOST PROPERTY
Missing a jumper, jacket or hat? The pile is building!
Staff will be going through and finding any items that are named to return. Those not named will be going to the second hand uniform shop for the end of term sale!
BEST WISHES TO MRS TUCK!
Congratulations to Mrs Tuck who at the end of next week will be taking maternity leave before the birth of her first child. We are so excited for Mrs Tuck and her family and wish her all the health and happiness and can't wait to meet the newest addition to the Artarmon family.
Ms Smith has been working closely with Mrs Tuck to transition to the classroom teacher for the remainder of the year.
GARFIELD WINNERS!
Congratulations to the winners of the P&C Garfield colour/drawing competition. There were some outstanding entries and it was extremely difficult to choose the winner. Each winner gets a tub of Malteasers to take to the movie and share with their friends. The initial thought was a slice of lasagne, however, as you could imagine, this would cause significant issues.
A huge shout out to Jackie and her Year 3 fundraising team for this great idea and fundraising event.
The School Photographer will be at APS in Week 9 on Tuesday 25th June and Thursday 27th June.
Uniform requirements- Full winter school uniforms are expected to be worn for school photos.
Allocated Class Photo Days-
- Tuesday: Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 5, student leaders, house captains/ vice captains and Year 2 choir will also be photographed.
- Thursday: Year 4, Year 6 and music ensembles. Please note that Year 6 should wear their usual school jacket and NOT their Year 6 jersey.
Payment- We strongly encourage all parents to pay for their child’s photos online at www.theschoolphotographer.com.au, using the code included on your child’s individual envelope. Cheques are no longer accepted as payment; however, exact cash can be included in the envelope and brought on your child’s photo day.
Photo Envelopes- If your child forgets their envelope on their allocated day, you can order and pay online using the address above. All students who are present on their class’s allocated day, will be included in their class photo and have their individual photo taken. Spare photo envelopes are available from the school office if your envelope has been mislaid.
Sibling Photos will be taken at lunch time on either Tuesday or Thursday. Please remind your children to meet at the steps outside the hall or ask your eldest child to collect the younger ones from outside their classrooms. Envelopes for sibling photos are also available at the office; however, you may simply send them along and then order and pay online.

Tag in 4CD
4CD recently played tag and won a trophy! Tag is a game where people run around and try to avoid the tagger. ABC Radio started a competition for all of Sydney. We couldn’t tag our friends and we couldn’t tip the person who got us. Everyday the game restarted for a whole week. The tagger revealed themselves at the end of lunch time. We only played before school and during breaktime. 4CD had a very intriguing (which means interesting) and wonderful time playing the awesome game of TAG.

Sydney Eisteddfod – APS Strings & Guitar Ensembles
Well done to all of our String and Guitar students for their amazing performances last week at the Sydney Eisteddfod! Our ensembles did very well with Concert Strings placing second in their category and Junior and Senior Strings receiving highly commended awards for their performances.
Thank you to Mr Mansukhani, Mr Thomlinson and all of our music tutors for preparing our students for the Sydney Eisteddfod. Thank you to Mr Coombes and Mrs Singh for organising the event and for allowing APS students the opportunity to perform at the Eisteddfod.
A special thank you to the APS Executive Staff and parent volunteers that accompanied the students (and their instruments) through the streets of Artarmon and Chatswood and back!

NSW PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE
The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge encourages students to participate in an ongoing reading program, reading a set number of books at their own reading level. It is not a competition, but a challenge to each student - to read, to read more and to read more widely.
There is a handy shortcut in your child’s Student Portal that will take them directly to the student site. As this is a NSW Department of Education Program, students use the same username and password to access the website that they use to sign into their Student Portal and the computers at school.
Congratulations to the following students who have completed the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge:

Willoughby Judo Club established in 1969, located in Willoughby Park Centre, Corner of McClelland St & Warrane Rd, Willoughby is looking for new junior members to join its club and experience a martial art that is both fun and enjoyable for all ages.
Judo is an awesome martial art that is great for kids. The teaching and training of Judo help children learn discipline, improve focus and self-esteem, build a healthy lifestyle, be adaptive and protect themselves from bullies.
It is the ideal contact sport that develops children, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Judo is safe and fun activity for kids. It is more than throws and holds, it is a way of life that teaches respect and honour. The principles taught by Judo help children reach their goals and enhance their abilities, all in a safe environment.
Our classes start at age 5 and we offer a balanced approach where children are exposed to games, free practice, learning techniques, and physical fitness.
We have fully qualified and experienced coaches that ensure that all the activities are fundamentally safe because all techniques in Judo are not risky if they are practised properly.
Kids who learn Judo are often highly disciplined and demonstrate sportsmanship.
The environment of Judo combines discipline, physical activity, and self-defence skills, which makes it an excellent sport for kids.
