URStrong Parent Evening
We are excited to be hosting URSTRONG, an internationally recognized Social Emotional Wellbeing program, that empowers children with the skills, language and self-confidence to be better friends and develop healthier relationships. To learn more about URSTRONG I would encourage you to visits their web site (www.urstrong.com) where they have a number of free resources for parents.
We invite all students from Years 1 & 2 and their parents and Kindergarten (parents only), to come along on the 7th of August at 6.30pm, for a URSTRONG Language of Friendship Junior Parent-Child Workshop. And we invite all students from Years 3 to 6 and their parents to join us at 6.30pm on the 14th of August, for a URSTRONG Language of Friendship Parent-Child Workshop. See posters attached to this weeks Newsflash for more information. The cost of the first 100 tickets for each event are being generously subsidised by the Artarmon Public School P&C!
This is a valuable opportunity for all family members to learn more about how to manage emotions and relationships.
I highly recommend this event to our school community.

Woolworths Cricket Blast School Cup Report
Artarmon Reserve
29/07/2019
The day had finally arrived. The Woolworths Cricket Blast competition!
We took three boys teams and two girls teams to compete in the tournament. The three boys teams were: The Sixers captained by Justin Nielson (6MS), The Thunder captained by Riley Mawhinney (6MS) and The Heat captained by Henry Merrick (5/6NT). The Two girls teams were, The Sixers captained by Caitlin Janssen (6DD) and The Thunder captained by Sophia Grubisic (6AI).
All teams competed in a round robin competition against teams from Neutral bay Public School. Each team played three thrilling and hard-fought games to decide who would play in the final’s games. It was Artarmon’s time to shine as we smashed humungous sixes, took classic catches, made miraculous runouts and knocked down the stumps with accurate bowling.
After all the games the girls Sixers were victorious and remained undefeated, after playing a high scoring 1st place game against our Thunder girls who were brilliant and came in 2nd place in the tournament.
The boys Sixers came 3rd after their close final match with our Heat boys who came 4th. The Thunder were sensational throughout the tournament and demonstrated significant skill development and achieved a 5th place finish.
This day was weeks in the making. All participants attended weekly practise sessions for over ten weeks, where they worked on all aspects of batting, bowling and fielding. Throughout these training sessions, all players worked well together to provide encouragement and to help each other’s cricketing skill development.
I was extremely proud of all student’s efforts, and I was thrilled to see so many beaming smiles on faces and lots of laughter throughout. I was also happy to see the development of teamwork skills, tactical awareness, game sense and communication. Thank you to all the boys and girls who played. You represented the school brilliantly and showed wonderful sportsmanship.
Also, I would like to thank the organisers of the tournament and Mr Jarrad Maxwell for his assistance on the day.
The Woolworths Cricket Blast provided a fun filled opportunity for its participants to learn the great game of cricket in a fun-filled and fast paced atmosphere. The games were played using a set of modified rules and are 8 players a side. These rules are designed to maximise participation and ensure everyone gets a go learning all aspects of cricket in all positions, irrespective of player’s experience and ability. The boys and girls were assisted by professional players from the and coaches Sydney Sixers organisation, that organised the schedule, provided tips on technique and scored the matches.
