EDUCATION WEEK 2019
What a fabulous day last Thursday was at Artarmon Public School. We had an amazing number of visitors and the students were very excited and proud to display the work that they do. It was also wonderful to see so many grandparents here to engage with their grandchildren.
The musical performances were amazing. Hats off to the Boys Dance group who performed an exceptional routine.
Whilst we had to finish the K-2 Tabloid Sports Day a bit early(due to the extreme wind) it was very well supported by families and losts of visitors came to participate.
We are indeed fortunate to have such a supportive and engaged school community.
CONGRATULATIONS
Well done to Senior Band who won 1st place at the Ryde Eisteddfod today.
The New Enrolment Policy
The new NSW Enrolment Policy is in the first stage of implementation. I will be meeting with my Director, Public Schools to discuss how this will directly impact on our school. I will present the changes and impact at the P&C meeting on Wednesday 25 September and also in the Newsflash and our website.
Sun Safety at Artarmon Public School
Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, with one in two Australians developing some form of skin cancer during their lifetime. Overexposure to the sun during childhood and adolescence is known to be a major cause of skin cancer.
At Artarmon Public School we have decided to take a proactive approach to sun safety. Students have been reminded at assemblies and in class to wear their hats at playtime. On Wednesday, during first half lunch time in all play areas, we conducted a survey to see which children are and are not wearing a hat. These surveys will continue on random days to help develop consistent hat wearing habits for all of our students.
We’re delighted to let you know that most students are following our sun safe policy. The number of hatless students has been significantly reduced but we need your help! We ask that all parents support our policy and encourage their child to bring a hat to school every day.
Thank you for supporting our sun safety policy!
FOOTY SUPPORTERS
New Ethics Coordinator needed for Artarmon Primary School
Our current Ethics Coordinator is stepping down and Primary Ethics is looking for a new volunteer to take over this rewarding position.
What?
The ethics coordinator liaises with school staff and the school community, with Primary Ethics, and with the volunteer ethics teachers who the coordinator recruits and supports during their training and ethics teaching experience.
How often?
An average of 1- 2 hours per week during school term. There may be peaks in workload at the end and beginning of the year when making arrangements for classes and at any time when recruiting and inducting new ethics teachers.
Where?
Mostly working from home, although semi-regular visits to the school to meet with school staff, the parent community and ethics teachers make the job easier. Local appointments to interview prospective volunteers are also required, and keeping in touch with ethics teachers with an occasional social event helps to build a strong team of volunteers.
If you are interested in applying or would like further information, please click on the link below. A full handover with the current coordinator will be provided before the new coordinator commences.
Hi all year 3 parents,
We are going to have a fundraising meeting on Wednesday 28th August at 7pm in the Kindy Library which is in the Kindy block.
This meeting is where we are going to organise our Multicultural Fair which is being held in November. We need lots of volunteers to help on the day and we would like as many ideas of games and food stalls and other activities from you.
Please all come along and share your thoughts with us and help out.
If you can't make it please let us know what you would like to help out with or any ideas you have to our email fundraising@artarmonpandc.org.au

Music Camp
Registration must be done by this Friday August 16th. Don’t delay!
Playing truant – not the sort of playing we’re looking for
There have been a few students not turning up regularly to group ensemble practice or private lessons. Most parents of those children have been alerted, but please contact your tutor or the ensemble coordinator if you want to check on your child’s attendance. And let your child know the importance of turning up!
