Premier's Reading Challenge News
Congratulations to those students who have registered for the 2020 PRC.
All students are encouraged to enter and enjoy the challenge of locating and reading PRC books then receiving a 2020 award. The rules have been changed to help all students participate and enjoy success in a very different school year.
Premier's Reading Challenge Rules for 2020.
Students on all Challenge levels can record 10 choice books on their reading record.
Students on all Challenge Levels can include books they read with their class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with their parents/carers. (Copyright rules have been changed to allow this.)
2020 awards/certificates will count towards cumulative awards.

In an approved series on the PRC booklist, students can read any three books as PRC books. Students can read up to another 10 books from the same series as Personal Choice books. Five books can be added as standard choice books, and five as bonus choice books for 2020.

All Student Reading Records must be completed by 28 August 2020 to complete the Challenge and receive a PRC certificate.

After receiving some great feedback from parents I passed it all on to teachers. They also felt that they wanted to communicate their appreciation to you.
We asked teachers for some comments. Please see below:
"The warmth and support that we have received from the parent community at Artarmon has been incredible."
"I have spoken to students who have not only been supported while completing their learning grids, but support from mums and dads has also given them opportunities to learn special new skills such as riding their bikes without training wheels and becoming a sous-chef in the kitchen!"
"Not only have they been supportive with their children, but so many parents have taken the time to express their thanks and admiration to myself and other teaching staff. Our Artarmon parents have been flexible, understanding and full of kindness during this strange time and I feel truely privileged to be a part of this wonderful community. "
"Thank you for all your hard work, we know we are expecting the world of you at the moment but you need to know you're doing a fantastic job!"
"Thank you to all parents for your kindness sand consideration in this challenging time. Your hard work and flexibility is much appreciated."
"Thank you to all the parents supporting your children in this very unique and challenging time. You are amazing and we thoroughly appreciate everything you are doing."
"Having the support of parents has made a challenging time so much more manageable. When I rang around for the beginning of Term 2 the support and encouragement I received just made the difference. Thank you parents!"
"I think parents have been doing a terrific job ensuring their children remain engaged with their school work in very difficult circumstances. Be kind to yourselves and acknowledge what a great job you're doing."
"P&C and APS parents, we know the last month has been a struggle for many of you, juggling working from home & family life. Many thanks to you for continually supporting your child(ren), doing YOUR best during this difficult time & ensuring education continues at home. Continue making memories with your family & stay safe."
"A huge thank you to all our wonderful parents and carers for helping your children to manage so many changes we have experienced through these challenging times, with kindness, patience and support. We appreciate you! :)"
"Thank you for being so understanding and helpful during this difficult time!"
"I found juggling my own children's different subjects and different activities at home, while also trying to work, more difficult than teaching my class of 30! I am amazed at how supportive the parents at home have been and what a great job they have been doing!"
"It was wonderful to hear how parents are understanding the difficulty of setting up lessons on line. It was wonderful that they have shared their appreciation and thanks to the teachers. This really does help us to feel valued and to keep trying our best! A very big THANK YOU to the hard working parents who are helping and motivating their children to complete the lessons that have been set."
"Thank you for your amazing work in supporting your children with on-line learning from home. You are doing a fabulous job."
"Well done for persisting, supporting your child or children and helping them feel loved and cherished. We will get through this and we look forward to welcoming your children back with smiles and joy."
"Dear parents of APS, as teachers we are so unbelievably grateful with the consistent and ongoing efforts you are making with your children. We could not make online learning successful with out each and everyone of you, so thank you!"
"We are so lucky at Artarmon to have such a wonderful parent community. During the phone conversations we've had during this challenging time, I am struck by how committed they are to their children's learning. I appreciate so much the efforts they are making to assist my students with the lessons on Google Classroom despite the difficulties they may be facing."
"Thanks Artarmon parents-You are wonderful."

Informative videos to help with string instruments.
These videos will assist with how to tune and take care of the violin. I have found these most helpful to ensure the violin is in tune during practice. Please watch with your child.
