SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT STAFF WEEK
We are all very grateful for the great work our support/office staff do in our school.
What great people they are! Thanks to all of you for the support you give to our school community.
ARTARMON P&C ZOOM MEETING TONIGHT
All are welcome to attend the meeting. Please check the log in details in this week's P&C message.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations, both Maggie and Andres are our prize winners from T4L Kids Issue 2.
There is a special mention of our award winners and their games are featured on page 2! https://t4l.schools.nsw.gov.au/resources/teaching-and-learning-resources/t4l-kids.html
Hope they get a thrill out of seeing their work published!
Artarmon students have gone CRAZY about French Knitting!
Do you have any balls of wool lying at home? If you do, our students would really appreciate them as French Knitting has become so popular at lunch time.
Please send any spare balls of wool with your child and we will collect it at the school office.
Thank you!
COVID REMINDERS
Students should be at school unless:
- they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition and the expected timeframe
- they are currently unwell
In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. Schools will make arrangements for students who present as unwell or have flu like symptoms to be sent home.
NSW Health have requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics.
Students and staff with flu like symptoms will need to provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result before being permitted to return to school.
Schools are not required to conduct widespread temperature screening or mandate the wearing of a mask.

Notes:
- In-person rehearsals:
- Students are to bring instruments for in-person rehearsals, however, mouthpieces will not be required.
- There will be no blowing of instruments at in-person rehearsals.
- Instead students will listen to music pieces and do finger exercises with their instruments, as well as practicing slide positions.
- All students will also be doing some percussion to improve rhythm and sight reading.
- In addition, aural and music theory will play a larger part during in-person rehearsals.
- Online Zoom rehearsals:
- Online/Zoom rehearsals will run for 45 minutes
- Jazz Band Rehearsals:
- Drums/percussion/guitar/bass/piano players - attend in-person
- Woodwind & brass players - Zoom in from home.
- For those woodwind/brass players who are unable to Zoom into rehearsal, they can attend in- person, however, will not be blowing into instruments.
- Students will be required to stay in stage groups:
- Stage 2 – years 3 & 4
- Stage 3 – years 4 & 5
- Those students who are in a band ensemble that is not currently part of their stage group, will move up/down an ensemble level to be with their stage group (e.g. a year 5 student in Training Band will move to Concert Band).
- This change will be in place on a temporary basis until the end of Term 3 to accommodate students staying within their stage groupings.
- Mr Walmsley has spoken to students who will need to change levels to be with their ‘stage’ groups.
Band & Orchestra rehearsals will run in accordance with APS and the Department of Education COVID guidelines. For more information refer to:
