TELL THEM FROM ME SURVEY
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete the Tell Them From Me survey that was posted in last weeks Newsflash. The link and details are included again this week, and will be for the next few weeks to allow familes time to provide us with some honest and valuable feedback about our school.
If you haven't completed it yet and you have a spare 10-15 mins, please click on the link in the article below. Thanks again, we appreciate your time and feedback.
Athletics Fun days
On Tuesday this week and Tuesday next week, Years 3-6 will have had the opportunity to participate in some athletics fun days organised by Sports Pro and our teachers. These days were in lieu of our Athletics carnival that we had to be cancelled due to current restrictions. This has been a great way to get the kids together in groups to develop and practice their athletic skills in a fun and supportive way.
A huge thanks to the Year 6 sports captains who helped with organisation and encouraged students to have a go and try their best. It was great to see the school spirit back at our sporting events.
Photos to come in next weeks Newsflash!
Year 1 & 2 Tabliod Sports Day
On Friday before the rain came, our Year 1 and 2 students got outside and participated in their tabloid sports day. This is a great day for children to develop and learn new gross motor skills whilst focusing on co-operation and fair play.
Kindergarten's session was unfortunately washed out, however, has been postponed to Tuesday 15th September. Please make sure they wear their sports uniform on that day.
Check out the gallery to see some of the action on the day!

WINNING HOUSE: |
Not Returning or Returning Late in 2021?
The first day of school for most students next year will be Friday 29 January, 2021. Year 5OC students will begin on Monday 1 February, 2021 and new Kindergarten students will be informed by letter of their starting date.
It is vital that we know if your child/ children will NOT be returning to Artarmon or will be returning late next year. Some families take extended holidays in January/ February and we need to know your return date so that your enrolment can be counted. This information will enable the school to plan for staffing and classing needs.
This note does not apply to Year 6 students.
If your family are not returning or returning late in 2021, please click on the link and complete the online form.
'Tell Them From Me' Parent Survey
We are delighted that this term, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education

Willoughby Council / Macquarie University Project
In then upcoming weeks/ months, Willoughby Council will be working with 3 students in the 4th year of their planning course to conduct an analysis of the challenges and opportunities for primary students travelling actively (walking, cycling or scootering) to school, as an alternative to relying on the car.
They have selected two schools for the students to focus on - Artarmon PS and Castle Cove PS - as council is proposing to construct new shared walking and cycling paths in the vicinity of these schools. In the case of Artarmon PS, this will be the proposed Chatswood to St Leonards shared path which was on public exhibition recently. Construction of new walking and cycling infrastructure is a key objective in Council's recently adopted Integrated Transport Strategy. It is hoped that school communities, in particular, will benefit from the provision of new active travel infrastructure and other facilities to reduce reliance on car travel.
What this means for students at Artarmon:
The study will not involve any direct interaction with the school or the students, but requires the University team to analyse the built environment of the catchment and provide a report to the Council Planning Team. As such, they will not be located in any particular position outside the school but will be moving through the area, as it is the streets, footpaths and public domain in the vicinity of each school which they will be studying, not the activities of the school students.
The students involved in the study might be seen around the area and wil be supervised by their senior University lecturer.
