School organised formals -Yr 6 Farewell
Schools have guidelines in place for school organised formals which include the requirement of a COVID-19 Safety Plan.
Students and their parents and carers need to be aware of the following for school organised formals:
- Attendance is limited to the student cohort and supervising staff only.
- If the venue has the capacity, the school can decide to allow the attendance of external visitors such as partners, DJs, and photographers. The school will need to consider and follow the current safety guidelines which includes:
- signing in with an external visitors form
- ensuring the venue has the capacity to maintain the 4 square metre rule for each attendee..
- Maximum of 30 attendees per table (updated Friday, 23 October 2020). We recommend having 10 – 12 attendees per table.
- Students and/or guests will not be allowed to congregate or crowd in groups including when arriving or leaving the event.
- Dance floors are allowed and should be held outside if possible. If a dance floor is indoors, ensure it is well ventilated.
For the Fallen
On Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 12:30pm, Year 4 students from APS joined together with hundreds of thousands of school children from all over Australia as part of the Music Count Us In Program 2020. The day is celebrated nationally, where right across the country, all registered schools sing the same song, on the same day, at the same time. The main event is live streamed so that all participating schools can tune in and feel connected to the rest of the country as they sing the song that stops the nation! In 2020, the MCIU program faced difficulty with students in NSW being unable to sing. This unique challenge was innovatively solved by having students in NSW ‘sing’ using AUSLAN signing and perform percussion using chopsticks. The performance proved to be very uplifting and moving with the lyrics to the song having been written by Australian school students with the assistance of John Foreman OAM (Program Ambassador). The 2020 song was titled ‘You Won’t Bring Us Down’. Thank you to Mrs Donaldson for preparing the students for this wonderful experience.
"Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creats a ripple with no logical end." - Scott Adams
NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect and to celebrate the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Australia’s First Nation Peoples – recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters and celebrating their ongoing contribution to our country and society.
The theme for NAIDOC Week 2020 is ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’, recognising that First Nations peoples have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to see, hear, learn about and embrace the history of this country which dates back thousands of generations.
We know that the very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples and that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have maintained ongoing spiritual and cultural connections to the land, waterways and sea. It’s exciting to reflect that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first scientists, astronomers and artists.

WINNING HOUSE: |
The Tea Towels Have Arrived!
Over the past couple of days, the fundraising team have been hard at work sorting and distributing the amazing tea towels that the students and teachers designed last term. With over 1000 tea towels to sort through this has been a massive task. If you have any issues with your order please email melinda.spencer2@gmail.com.au and we will work to rectify any problems as quick as we can. I am sure you will agree that they look terrific and we have some very talented students and teachers in our community.
