THANK YOU
There are so many people to thank for this year -
Teachers - for their perseverance and commitment to our students learning and well being.
Parents - for their support of our wonderful school during very challenging times.
Students - for their amazing resilience and enthusiasm for their learning.
It has been a year where it may have been difficult to have a negative mindset, but as a school community we have maintained our enthusisam and pride in what we do for our students.
Keep an eye on your Schoolzine App for information about Covid guidelins for 2021.
STUDENT LEADERS 2021
PAYMENTS
We would appreciate as many families as possible getting up to date with unpaid invoices and walkathon money. We also understand that this year may have been financially challenging as well.
Friday this week will be the last day for payments to the school.
Salvation Army Giving Tree
Thank you to our generous school community for their support of this initiative.
Well done to K-6 SRC representatives who have worked hard to promote the importance of giving back to communities during difficult times.
CONGRATULATIONS

K - 2 AND 3 - 6 PRESENTATION DAY ASSEMBLIES
Congratulations to all award winners who were recognised for their outstanding efforts across the year, through our recent K - 2 and 3 - 6 Presentation Day Assemblies. The 2021 School Leadership Team was also announced and we are very proud of both our outgoing 2020 student leaders and our newly selected 2021 leaders. Both assemblies were a huge success and all students are to be commended on their behaviour and respect displayed throughout the duration of the assemblies. We had the privilege of listening to the many talented students in the Jazz Band, Senior Strings and the Junior and Senior Guitar Groups, led by a team of dedicated Music Teachers / Tutors.
Although we were unable to have parents in attendance at the assemblies due to current restrictions, we compiled a presentation to share with you. Please see the links below.

Dear Strings Parents
Registration for existing students and auditions for new students is now closed. Any new enquiries will be automatically placed on the wait list and will be actioned when school commences in 2021.
Please note, String students are required to return sheet music to the music room this week on Thursday 10th of December at recess or lunch.
Year 6 students are also required to return their school issued folders on Thursday 10th of December at 1.20pm. Please be on time and meet outside the Music room.
As previously advised, instruments are to be returned for audit and service checks on the 14th of December as outlined below.
In the event that there are instrument hire fees that are still outstanding for 2020, please note that instruments will not be able to be rehired and picked up until the account is settled. Please contact the Strings Treasurer to settle any payments before re-issue date.
Thank you Strings team volunteers
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parent volunteers that have assisted the Strings Program for 2020. There are also several of you who I would like to pass on a special mention of thanks in what has been a particularly challenging year to play instruments in close proximity to others!
Many thanks to the String coordinators Jenny Wang (Training Strings), Karen P’ng (Junior Strings), Vandana Vasudevan (Concert Strings) and Ada Pan (Senior Strings). It was very helpful to have your excellent assistance with communicating to parents and students for upcoming events and zoom rehearsal sessions throughout the year.
Joanne Wang has been an amazing instrument coordinator, who has managed the annual instrument stocktake/hire/repairs throughout a number of years. Joanne is finishing up with the Strings Program in 2020 and will be sorely missed. We have two new parent helpers that will be assisting with the instrument coordinator role and welcome Anu Wani and Aarti Karawal to the Strings team for 2021.
I would also like to personally thank Arzoo Patel, our Strings treasurer for all her assistance throughout the year. Namitha Prasad who will be taking on the position in 2021.
Finally, I would like to thank the musical directors Mr Walmsley and Mr Mansukhani, the school and all the kids that make up the wonderful music program at Artarmon Public School. 2020 has been a challenging year to say the least. Hopefully, 2021 will provide some more opportunities to hear in person the amazing music that is being created by our talented kids.
All the best,
Ellen Hird

Strings Instrument Return & Rehire 2020 – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Return date: Monday 14th December Rehire date: Tuesday 15th December
All hired String instruments must be returned to the music room on the morning of Monday 14th December before the school bell from 8.30am to 8.55am (at the latest).
Junior, Concert and Senior Strings may leave instruments in the music room after their auditions. Please have your child notify Mr Mansukhani if this is the case.
Training Strings instruments must be returned on Monday the 14th of December to the music room.
All instruments will be checked, and a stock take done. Any instruments requiring repair or service will be sent off over the holidays to the relevant repairer.
Please ensure the instrument is returned with all accessories (e.g. instrument cases, cloth cover).
On Tuesday 15th December, students are required to come to the music room to collect their rehire instruments before school from 830am to 855am. Please remind your child and that they are aware they will need to come to collect their instrument on this day.
If your child's hired instrument requires repairs, we will provide them with another suitable instrument if we have one available.
If your child does not collect their hired instrument on 15th December it will be stored securely over the holidays. We will let you know details for collection of these instruments at the start of next term.
Unfortunately, we cannot rehire instruments prior to 15th December as we have to book professional repairers to check them all and a team of volunteers to help organise. As you may appreciate with such a large number of instruments, this is a lengthy process.
If there are any other problems with returning or collecting instruments on the dates above, please contact me.
COVID safety
Due to COVID, the majority of students will receive the same instrument back for 2021 unless it needs to go for repair or service in which case a clean replacement will be issued.
Please ensure your child’s instrument is returned with their name on a label on the case (masking tape is fine). Any personal items such as shoulder rests, rosin and cleaning cloths must be removed from the case, otherwise they will be taken out during stock take and disposed of.
Got a question?
If it is about your hired instrument or instrumental tutorial please contact your tutor firstly, then our instrument coordinator or strings coordinator if required. For anything else please contact your strings convenor.
