Welcome back to 2021 everyone.

It was wonderful to see so many smiling, happy faces this morning (that includes parents as well!)

The staff at Artarmon are very much looking forward to a new year, full of challenges and excitement.

The school calendar is on our website and will assist you with dates of school activities.

We have many new enrolments and some students who have left the school, so it will take a period of time to complete permanent classes for the year. We will do our best to get this completed as quickly as possible.

CONFUSION

In our communication we said that parents of Yr 1 & 2 students would be able to drop off in the school site. Myself and the Deputy Principals were at the gates encouraging parents to say goodbye and leave from there.

Saying goodbye and leaving can be done at the gate or inside but as it was wet weather and children were going straight to classes it was a very different scenario. Most classrooms are inside buildings and parents are not permitted to go inside.

On Monday children will be aware of where they will be going and, as long as it is not raining, parents can say goodbye on site.

We have all learnt many lessons during Covid. The procedures we used during Covid have given us an insight into how children can and do behave. They developed independence and became resilient enough to ask questions and seek support. Your children CAN DO THIS.

When you appear anxious about drop off, you send a message to your child that there must be some danger associated with it.

As this was so efficient last year we definitely were encouraging parents to Drop and Go.

As an aside, all chldren knew where to go this morning and happily went into classrooms. Any problems were dealt with quickly and with compassion. We had many staff available to assist where needed.

Thank you to all the parents who were patient and supportive today.

REMINDER

SCHOOL STARTS AT 8.55AM. Teacher supervision is available from 8.25am

SCHOOL FINISHES at 2.55pm. Yrs 1& 2 will be at the oval for pick up at that time. Yrs 3-6 will leave the school grounds at that time.

We are all looking forward to a happy year where we support each other and celebrate our successes.

Instrument collection and purchasing music bag

Instruments will be able to be picked up on the times and days above. Please observe social distancing and wear a mask if attending with your child.

Please ensure you have confirmed your acceptance email as instrument will only be allocated once this been done.

There will be an opportunity to purchase music bags for $20.

Thursday 4^th Feb 2021 7.30pm-8.30pm Zoom link will be sent prior to meeting.

If you are waiting for your instrument, or can’t pick it up due to quarantine, there is still time to pick it up later. Just let us know via email.

Ensembles

All ensembles will commence in Week 3. If you don’t know what group your child is in, look on your parent portal first, then email us.

Instrument tuition lessons and group lessons

This is currently being organised and tutors will make contact soon in regard to the 30-minute lesson time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Junior Strings: 7:45 for 750am start -8:45am Tuesdays, school hall

Concert Strings: 7:45 for 750am start -8:45am Thursdays, school hall

Senior Strings: 3-4pm Tuesdays, music room
