PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

When you think about the future of our children and what that might look like for them, your mind can go in all sorts of directions. Cast your mind back to when you were young. How did you learn in the classroom? What did school look like for you? Has today's future turned out exactly as you predicted?
These are questions for you to reflect on and think, how your children might access education and ‘create their future.’
Education Week is for us to celebrate the journey students take throughout the education system and for us to focus on how we are creating futures for our students, staff and families. For us, from their first day of Kindergarten through to Year 6 and beyond, we are preparing children to be agile thinkers, lifelong learners and respectful citizens. We celebrate all types of learning that occurs and have a shared responsibility in helping to shape the lives and create the futures of today’s learners. Education can change the lives of not just our students, but also the lives of our teachers, staff, families and communities.
Our school has an outstanding reputation and that is not something that happens overnight. Our dedicated staff are the most remarkable professionals who continually collaborate together to learn, up skill, plan, prepare, support, teach and reflect so that they can have the greatest impact on your children who sit in front of them each day.
It was wonderful to open up our school today to showcase some of our amazing students on stage, but also wonderful to be able to invite parents, carers and grandparents back into our classrooms to share where your children are each day and where the magic happens. Remember education or a ‘successful future’ isn’t always about getting 100% in a test. It’s about the learning journey and being able to understand how you learn. It’s about understanding and making good choices to be the best version of you. It’s about interacting with others and being a respectful citizen and member of a community.
We are so lucky at Artarmon that our teachers understand this and work very hard with your children to help them achieve their goal to create their futures.
