PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome back to the start of Term 4. It has been wonderful to see our students back in the school gates engaging in learning and school life. Term 4 is an exciting term with lots on and we are looking forward to celebrating the year at the end of the term. It might not feel like it this week, however, term 4 normally starts to bring around warmer weather. Students should start transitioning into summer uniform. This of course is another perfect opportunity to check names are labelled on jumpers as they start to be disposed of in the playground and odd spots around the school. Clearly labelled jumpers are easier to find and also save families money!

During the holidays the Department released news that the final day of Term 4, Monday 19th December, will now be a day for staff to engage in professional learning around the new curriculum and to prepare for the new year. For families this means the last day for students is now Friday 16th December.

Below is an updated poster with Key dates for Term 4 for you to add to your calendars.

BUILDING UPDATE

If you have been on the Abbott Rd campus this term you would have noticed that the old Noah's Ark toilet block has been demolished and the temporary toilets have been set up. Teachers this week have spoken with the children around the change and accessing the temporary toilets safely. We are looking forward to watching the new facilities be erected during the term.
McMillan Shade Structure - As communicated last term, this project was meant to have been completed during the school holidays. Unfortunately this was postponed due to the weather and a new install date is currently being negotiated. Thank you for your patience with this.
Hall Ceiling Works - For the next two weeks, the ceiling at the entrance to the hall is being replaced due to past storm damage in 2021. The biggest impact this will have on our community is pick up for Camp Australia in the afternoon/evening. Camp Australia will communicate with families the change in collection and this will involve using the side steps and the side door opposite the canteen. Thank you again for your understanding during this time.

TERM 4 INVOICES

Invoices will be sent home next week for any excursions, incursions or PSSA sport your child will be participating in.
Term 3 invoices included an $8 fee per child for an opera incursion that was cancelled due to COVID and staff shortages. This will be used in Term 4 to purchase creative arts resources and activities for the students to use before the end of the year.

COVID UPDATE

Currently the same COVID Smart measures, isolation and notification rules that were in place in Term 3 are still active. This means students who test positive to COVID must isolate and notify the school so we can communicate with the community.
I understand that in the coming days, the NSW government will change the rules and when this happens, I will notify you of any changes to the Departments COVID guidelines. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our entire community for the support and understanding through all the COVID Smart measures we have put in place to keep our students, staff and community safe.
