Dear String Parents,

Welcome back to Term 4! This week the students should be back into routine with their tutorials and ensemble rehearsals. The music committee are working with the school executives on the program for this term and we will communicate key events and dates shortly.

In the meantime, please log into your parent portal https://portal.msmusic.com.au/artarmonmusic and ensure your contact details are up to date. In term 4, a lot of information (including audition times/dates and results) are communicated to parents via email.

In addition to email communications, we encourage you to check Newsflash regularly for upcoming events and important string updates.

Music Room

Over the school holidays, there was new shelving and posts installed in the music room to better organise our string instruments. The space is now much more functional with posts supporting the cellos/double basses and shelves put in for violins/viola. Thank you to Ellen Hird for designing the new shelves and to the String/Band Committees, the P&C, and the School Executives for supporting this project.

Parent Volunteer Needed

As you may be aware, ALL the administration of the APS Music programs (Strings and Band) is completed entirely by parent volunteers.  Volunteering to help with Strings/Band is a great way to connect with the school community, gain a better understanding of the APS music programs and most importantly your child will be thrilled that you are involved with something they are involved in.

We are currently looking for a parent volunteer to assist our Tutor Coordinator in Term 4 with the aim of taking over the role in 2023. If you can assist or have any further questions, please email strings.artarmonpandc@gmail.com.

• Tutor Coordinator Assistant

Liaises between the school, parents, tutors and music directors (for both Band & Strings) in relation to tutorials, coordinates lesson timetables & reports, communicates tutorial information to parents, updates / email tutors as required.

Orchestra – Parent Supervision Roster

Our orchestra ensemble is on Wednesdays 7:50am – 8:50am in the Music Room. If you are available to assist and supervise the rehearsals in Term 4, please sign up using the following google link:

Tutorial Absences

A reminder regarding absences: parents/caregivers must inform their child's instrumental tutor directly regarding absences in a timely manner. It is important to note that the school does not inform tutors of student absences. Lessons that are missed without due notice will be forfeited.

Dates for the diary

Attendance to the above events is compulsory and String students are expected to attend as part of the Music Program.

Ensembles

If your child is sick and/or unable to attend a rehearsal, please notify your corresponding Strings Coordinator.
