COVID SMART MEASURES REMINDER
Students and staff should continue to stay home when sick
Students, staff and visitors should only attend school when they are symptom free. We strongly encourage all students, staff and visitors to follow the guidance issued by NSW HealthExternal link. We will continue to send home students or staff displaying symptoms.
Anyone who believes they have been exposed to COVID-19 is strongly recommended to monitor for symptoms and test if they have any concerns, as well as wear a mask. We will continue to support our families to use rapid antigen tests (RATs) if symptomatic or if you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19. RAT testing may help identify the infection early and is important if you are in contact with people at greater risk of serious illness if exposed to COVID-19.
We are continuing our COVID-smart measures
Our school will continue to operate with our baseline COVID-smart measures to minimise transmission and keep our school open. This includes a combination of layered safety measures such as maintaining hygiene and cleaning practices, using rapid antigen testing (RAT) when experiencing symptoms, maximising natural ventilation, strongly encouraged vaccinations and strongly encouraging mask-wearing particularly when indoors and/or physical distancing is not possible.
Reporting requirements
Please continue to notify our school if your child tests positive to COVID-19 as we will continue to notify the school community of any known positive cases to prioritise student and staff safety and wellbeing.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOLANDA
Another amazing achievement from one of our students. Congratulations to Yolanda for winning the Highly Commended award for the 2022 ANSTO Shorebirds Drawing Competition (Y5-6 Individuals).
ANSTO refers to Australia's Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, is the home of Australia's most significant landmark and national infrastructure for research. Thousands of scientists from industry and academia benefit from gaining access to state-of-the-art instruments every year.
The ANSTO Education Team has been hosting the annual Shorebirds Competition for five year, students in Years 3 to 6 across Australia were invited to create a public awareness poster highlighting an important wetland or coastal habitat (found in their local area or State/Territory) and one of Australia’s amazing 54 species of shorebirds. Students were also asked to elaborate on what the message shown on their poster means to them.
Yolanda created a poster artwork of a beautiful Black Winged Stilt standing in the Waterbird refuge at Sydney Olympic Park wetland, whereas its water reflection shows all rubbish inside its stomach, to appeal to people to take rubbish home to protect threatened shorebirds.

NOT RETURNING OR RETURNING LATE IN 2023?
The first day of school for most students next year will be Tuesday 31st January, 2023. Year 5OC students will begin on Wednesday 1st February, 2023 and new Kindergarten students will be informed by letter of their Best Start interview date before their first official day on Monday 6th February 2023.
It is vital that we know if your child/children will NOT be returning to Artarmon or will be returning late next year. Some families take extended holidays in January/ February and we need to know your return date so that your enrolment can be counted. This information will enable the school to plan for staffing and classing needs.
This note does not apply to Year 6 students.
Please click here to fill in the form if your child is not returning or returning late in 2023.
