VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS

ARTARMON PUBLIC SCHOOL

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS

For many years Artarmon Public School has provided educational resources of a superior quality for our students.  Annually the voluntary contributions supplement the basic level of resources provided by the NSW Department of Education: specialist teacher support, purchase of stationery, readers, maths resources, music equipment, library books and sports equipment. Voluntary Contributions have added between $100 000 - $180 000 worth of quality resources that make a difference each day in every classroom, Kindergarten to Yr 6, which we would otherwise be unable to purchase.

$100 000 of the Voluntary Contributions funds a Learning Support Teacher. This position is used to provide additional time to students needing extra support in their learning. The majority of this time is used for Reading and Writing and also Mathematics.

The school is required to report the amount collected and what it has been used for at P&C meetings and in the Principal’s report. Further information regarding the DoE Policy and Code of Conduct for the collection of voluntary contributions is available on the DoE website.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Voluntary Contribution ?

NSW Schools ask parents for a financial contribution to assist the school in providing all the resources we would expect or wish our children to enjoy.

How much does it cost ?

We recommend a minimum contribution of $250 for one child, $300 for two children or $350 for three or more children. You can pay more or less than the suggested amount.

How do I pay?

The Voluntary Contribution will be attached to the Student Invoice at the beginning of Term 2.

How can I pay it?

The contribution is voluntary. Last year we raised  $167 767.00 through parent contributions which are vital in helping to fund equipment, classroom resources and educational support that the school needs. We hope you help us supporting the school in this way in 2019.

Don’t I already pay school fees?

There are different ways that the school and P&C combine to to support our students:

·       Voluntary Contributions – these are given to the school and reported on at P&C Meetings, Newsflash and through the website.

·       P&C Fundraising – Each year Yr 3 parents organise fundraising activities. They decide at the beginning of the year what they would like to fund for the school

·       Student Invoices – the invoices cover costs like excursions, incursions and some curriculum materials.
