OPERA AUSTRALIA
Opera Australia Comes to APS
Opera Australia is an opera company that performs on stage with a combination of music, song, and story. On Monday the 28th of August, year 5 had the delight of watching an opera by 4 actor\singers and one skilled musician.
The show, Eil Kid, lasted 60 minutes and the music persisted throughout the performance. The singers set up all the props and sets, in the school hall. All of year 5 enjoyed the play.
El Kid is an opera based on The Three Billy Goats Gruff, with new aspects of entertainment to make the story more interesting. Diego (the baby goat) is being ridiculed by his siblings, as they make their way to the Fiesta. Isabella and Ferdinand (the older siblings) try to scare a troll away From the bridge. However, the troll threatens to eat them, so the burden is passed on to Diego. Rather than running away, Diego tricks the troll, and has a newfound respect from Ferdinand and Isabella· the play was sung so that the audience would see the story through Diego's eyes.

Monday, the 28th of August, year 5 had been fortunate enough to have Opera Australia come to our school. The Opera had come to educate us through Opera. We had watched it in the hall in the middle session.
The Opera was called El Kid. This story was the appropriation of the story called The Three Billy Goats Gruff and Cinderella. This was so as the three characters, Diego, Ferdinand and Isabella were like three goats. They each wanted to go past the bridge, past the troll to get to the festival. The story is also an appropriation of the story Cinderella as Diego's to siblings bullied him and didn't want him to go to the festival.
This Opera was quite a unique one. There were fake cacti with oranges growing on them! The bridge was made of stones and had a flap available for the troll to pop out. The story was told with loud singing. The Opera had come to our school with a quick stage set up and beautiful costumes. This has been an amazing experience for us!

On Monday the 28th of August Year Five went to watch a play in the hall as a part of our Music Program. It was a great play and Year Five loved it.
The play was an appropriation of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Instead it was about a man called Ferdinan and a woman called Isabella who wonts to go to a Festival. But they come across a troll who is very hungry. The troll wanted to eat one of the humans but instead a very young boy named Diego, who gets bullied by his siblings Ferdinan and Isabella saved the day by banishing the troll by his magic which his siblings never believed in.
The real names of the actors were Lachlan who played Diego, Tristen who played Ferdinan, Bridget who played Isabella and Aliano who played the troll and narrator.
The play EL Kid was great and the year 5 had a blast watching it. They hope that Opera Australia can return in year six.

On the 28thof August APS brought an opera to school for the year S's. They had an unusual setting cacti. They had a brick wall to make the theme more exciting. The opera people had to be really hydrated.
The appropriation was three billy goat gruff as there were three goats one named Diego the second one called Ferdinand {big brother} and Isabella {big sister} and of course the troll/narrator.
In the opera it shows even if you are small you can achieve big things Diego fought the evil and his siblings finally accepted him it proves that he is strong in his own way.
The songs formed a very good background entertaining all of us students with the story of three siblings reuniting together.
Overall the story is very entertaining and suitable for kids.
