YEAR 6 SCIENCE INCURSION
Yr 6 Science Incursion Report
On the 20th of September, Year 6 participated in a science incursion hosted by the company EATON. It combined Robotics and Engineering together for a fun activity!
We started off with a presentation about electricity and how it worked. There were in-depth discussions with engineers, and questions asked by the engineers such as “What percentage of the energy used all around the world is renewable?” This really got us thinking about how we use electricity in our day-to-day lives.
Then, using our knowledge from the previous presentation, we were given materials to create different solar-powered inventions. We explored how gearboxes, motors and wires worked and how they were all connected to the solar panel which ultimately gave it the energy it needed. At the end, we had all created a one-of-a-kind mini windmill!
After this, we had a fascinating Q&A session, which consisted of questions from all branches of science, such as atoms and different forms of energy. Thank you to the engineers that came to our school and the teachers who organised it. We all had a fantastic time and are very grateful for the experience!
