A Real Author in Year 2! 

Year 2 has been buzzing with imagination as we explore narrative writing in English! From magical lands to wild adventures, we have been diving into imaginative texts, learning how authors hook their readers with strong story structure, rich language, and meaningful messages. 

To bring the writing process to life, we were lucky to welcome one of our very own Year 2 parents, Obaro, who is also a published author. On Friday 6 June, Obaro read his beautifully written and illustrated story aloud before answering some thoughtful questions from our curious students. 

His storytelling offered insight into what origin stories look like in another culture, highlighted how different generations can be connected through oral storytelling, and reminded us all that being read to holds a special place in our hearts—no matter our age. 

The Q&A session sparked rich discussion around where ideas come from, how stories are shaped over time, and how an author’s life, culture, and family can influence their writing. Obaro even kindly left multiple copies of his book for each classroom so that students can enjoy the story in their own time. 

It was a truly inspiring and memorable learning experience—one that has left our budding authors full of fresh ideas and a renewed excitement to put pencil to paper.
