RENAMING SPORT HOUSES
As mentioned in a previous newsletter, the school has been collaborating with the local Aboriginal Educational Consultative Group AECG) to rename the sport house groups at Artarmon.
Students who expressed interest in the program have dedicated their own time to research local native flora and fauna in the Artarmon area. They discussed their findings and had the opportunity to share them with a respected Aboriginal Elder from Dharug country, learning more about the language, cultural significance, and stories associated with these elements.
This has been an exceptional process for everyone involved, and the children thoroughly enjoyed learning the Dharug language while engaging deeply with the stories and their meanings.
The next steps a vote to consult on a selection of names and connecting with local Elders to explore the artwork and narratives linked to each new House name.
We look forward to sharing this journey with you as we progress.

CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK TO OUR ATHLETES
Huge congratulations to Audrey Grace, who was selected to represent Sydney North in the NSW state football (soccer) tournament in the coming weeks. This is a significant achievement, and we wish her all the best.
A shout out to Owen Scholes and Hayden Khoo for their efforts in getting through to the final rounds of trials for the boys Sydney North team. This is also a significant achievement given the number of students trialling.
Wishing our State KO Tennis team the best of luck on Friday as they play in the quarter-finals in Newcastle. If they win this round, they are off to the finals! Looking forward to hearing their result.

LIFE EDUCATION VAN - HAPPY HAROLD
Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the Healthy Harold Van parked at the front of our school. We recognise that this has taken up valuable space in our kiss and ride zones, and we truly appreciate your cooperation during this time.
The Life Education program is an invaluable learning experience for our students, and we are excited that all classes will be wrapping up soon. The van is scheduled to depart by next week.
Thank you once again for your continued support and for being mindful when driving in our school zone.

P&C SUCCESSFUL GRANT APPLICATION
A huge congratulations and thanks to Amanda Scholes and the P&C for submitting a successful application to the NSW Premier for a Community Building Partnerships 2025 Grant.
This program awards grants for community infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes while also promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
Brief Project Description
The Artarmon P & C has been awarded $43,601 through the 2025 NSW Government Community Building Partnership program to replace broken and outdated water bubblers with modern, accessible water stations. These new stations will provide safe drinking water and easy bottle-filling for students, staff, and the broader community, including visitors to Thompson Oval. The project will improve hydration access, promote reusable bottles to reduce plastic waste, and support healthy, sustainable habits. Works will include installing new stations opposite the Kindy Cola toilets and adding bright, energising artwork to enhance the space for all who visit.
The official Grant Approval can be seen below along with some examples of how the hydration station and wall art could look.
As part of the grant we want to understand how the school community uses single-use plastics before and after we instal the new bubblers, with the aim to increase reusable bottle use & increase general access to clean water throughout the day - look out for a questionaire coming to your classroom soon!
