GIRLS SOCCER KNOCKOUT
Our Girls Soccer team ( led by Mrs Tully) competed against Harbord Public School today. It was a pleaseure to watch enthusiastic young girls participating in such a way. We are not only proud of their skills and achievements but also the way they conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike way.
Well Done Girls !
PSSA Girls Soccer Knockout Competition
On Wednesday 19th June the Year 5 & 6 PSSA Girls Knockout team took part in the 4th round of the Sydney North Soccer Knockout Competition. The girls, Mrs Tully and some parents, staff and Year5 & 6 classes came to cheer the girls on against Harbord Public School at Thomson Park.
The competition was tough. Artarmon worked hard to defend Harbord’s offence and was able to hold them off scoring for the whole first half. After a break at half time, the girls were challenged to look up and pass to their teammates, challenge the ball and not give up. All the students and staff cheered the girls back on to play the second half.
Feeling inspired, the girls ran on in high spirits. They knew they could do it! The girls used their home ground to their advantage and began to attack Harbord’s defence. Harbord made a run back and scored an unstoppable goal straight into the back on the net. We were down 1-0. Artarmon came back firing. Some fantastic runs were made by the girls on the wing, where they sprinted up the sideline, straight past Harbord’s defenders and made crossed into the goal box. With 5 minutes to go, Mrs Tully, parents, students and staff were all cheering loudly for the girls to ‘have a shot!’ After some scrambling, there were a few shots across goals and back again, then straight into the goalkeeper’s hands. The whistle blew and the girls were heartbroken knowing they had lost 1-0. What a close game!
A big congratulations to all the soccer stars of the day. A big thank you to all the parents, staff and students who came to cheer the students on. Overall it was a fantastic game and has been our most challenging game yet. Well done!
