STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT REPORTS

The Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12 policy standards document has been updated as part of the department's response to support schools through impacts caused by COVID-19.

All schools now have greater flexibility in how they report to parents in Semester 2, 2021.

Overview of changes – components of the written report

Schools are required to issue a formal written report to parents for Semester 2. The formal written report for each student will:

  • use plain English
  • describe student progress and achievement on the learning covered during the reporting period, including the learning from home period
  • provide teacher comments to describe student learning and identify the next steps in learning
  • provide information about student attendance and commitment to learning where possible

Artarmon Public School Student Achievement reports for Semester 2, 2021 will not include A-E scales for Achievement but will include teacher comments only in:

English

Mathematics

PRESENTATION DAY AWARDS

Parents will not be present on the day and the award presentations will be held outside. Parents of new Student Leaders will be invited to meet their children outside the school after the Yr 5&6 Presentation.

This has been a challenging year for us all in the Artarmon community and as you can see from the information above even our student reports will be different this term. Our focus has been on English, Mathematics and Wellbeing. At Artarmon Public School, we implement 'Program Achieve' to assist our students to develop life skills. The end of year awards will reflect this.

There will be 6 awards for each class: Getting Along, Confidence, Organisation, Persistence, Resilience and Class Citizenship.

Each award will be a special certificate except the Citizenship Award which will be a medallion. Families of award winners will be notified in advance and invited to watch a Live Stream of the event.

Dates:

Tuesday 9.15am Yr 5&6

Tuesday 10.15am Kindergarten

Wednesday 9.15am Yr 1&2

Wednesday 10.15am Yr 3&4

SICK BAY

We are lucky to have Office Staff who are kind and considerate of children when they come to the office hurt or unwell. Each staff member has done CPR training and Emergency Care. They are not medical staff but are trained to ask questions and make basic judgements. It then becomes a parental responsibility to come and care for your child.

We know that interrupting parents at work can be challenging but in some cases we must do that. To make this easier for parents, you can nominate a secondary contact who may be able to collect your child. Please ensure that information is up to date and contact the school office if it has changed.

STUDENT LEADERS 2022

Yr 5 students who are interested in leadership have had an opportunity to talk to their teachers and then nominate themselves for a role. Teachers and school executives will then look at the lists and make decisions about who will proceed to an election. Student speeches and elections will take place later this term. The topic for the speech will be announced on the day, students will prepare and present their speech the same day and other students will vote later that same day. Successful students will be announced on presentation day.

We are very much looking forward to meeting our 2022 Student Leaders.

TEACHER XMAS GIFTS

We appreciate that families want to thank teachers for their work this year but this is just a reminder that the Department of Education set guidelines of gifts to the value of $50 per teacher. Should families combine to present a gift it would need to clearly state how many families were contributing.

Due to Covid guidelines the children will need to present any gift.
