This morning we waved farewell to our Year 5 campers and wished them the best for the next three days in Tea Gardens at the Great Aussie Bush Camp. This camp has been a long time coming after being cancelled in Term 1 this year.
I can confirm to all our Year 5 families that they have arrived safely and they will come back smelly and exhausted on Friday afternoon. Please keep an eye out on Friday for updates on the SZapp for approximate return time.
A HUGE thank you must go to the teaching staff for giving up their personal time to attend the camp with the students. They go above and beyond when at camp to ensure your children have an amazing time.
It was wonderful to be able to visit music camp on Sunday afternoon and witness some of the hard work all the parent volunteers and teachers had made to make it a huge success. I am sure you have been inundated with emails of thanks and appreciation for being able to provide this opportunity for our students.
In regards to lost property from music camp, this has been placed in a box in the music room and students are able to go and retrieve what is theirs.
Our annual Walkathon is fast approaching and students are coming home looking for sponsors and donations to see if they can go in the draw to win some amazing prizes. All money raised will be going back into the school to help with enhancing our outdoor learning spaces.
We are also looking for parent volunteers to help on the day. All information can be found below in our Walkathon article or you can register your interest here: https://forms.gle/xRmc6NjUwSjCyPCk8

Education Week 2022: Creating Futures
This section was brought to you by School Leaders - David P’ng, Aira Sinha, Elisya Arfianto and Kristina Kordusic
We have not held an Open Day in recent years, and the last time we had one feels like an eternity! Let’s take a flashback to last Wednesday. How did you feel when you saw your own child performing in the Education Week assembly? Pride. This overwhelming emotion filled parents’ hearts as they watched their children perform, sing, and dance in front of their own eyes. Last week, Artarmon Public School celebrated Education Week with an Open Day assembly. This annual school celebration commemorates NSW public education, as well as the achievements of schools and students.
As students, we cherish the educational journey and are inspired to learn in class, knowing the NSW government is creating futures throughout NSW. We celebrated all levels of the education system, which prepares young people to become agile thinkers and lifelong learners. The theme for Education Week 2022 is ‘Creating Futures’ because education changes lives. It focuses on how education brings out the best in students and celebrates the opportunities available to everyone in the NSW public education system. After all, our school slogan is ‘Learn to Live’.
Due to COVID-19, we all know how long it has been since we had an Open Day. To be able to hold performances to celebrate Education Week has been a fantastic effort and we would all like to say our warm welcome to parents who came to join us on this special occasion. We extend our many thanks to all the school staff who helped make this possible. Our school students were extremely grateful to have the opportunity to showcase their talent, and we hope you enjoyed 2022 Education Week!
With performances all over the school and parents with pride in their hearts, the school community had a fabulous Open Day.
Before school, the band and strings groups played devotedly and the guitar groups showed their talent. At the open day assembly, the jazz band and senior strings performed. The junior dance group danced to the song ‘Happy’ and the senior dance group showed us their routine to the song ‘Ghostbusters; I’m not afraid’. The Kameraigal choir and Year 2 choir sung the songs ‘My Favourite Things’ and ‘Summertime’ respectively. The 2022 kindergarten students finished the assembly with an adorable and outstanding performance of ‘Hello to all the children of the world’ and presented an encore that was very much appreciated. The kindies got their well-deserved minutes of clapping and left with the biggest grins on their faces with the occasional student calling out “Bye mummy and daddy!”
After the assembly, the parents of students had a blast seeing where all the magic happens: in the classroom. All the parents got to see their student’s work, working environment and their passionate teachers. Students enjoyed having fun with their parents at recess and there was the occasional game of tag and “Dad! You’re cheating!”
Lots of credit to all the teachers who helped make our performances happen. Thank you! And to all the parents who made time to come watch the performances, we are all very grateful for your attendance on our open day for Education Week.

PERMISSION NOTE UPDATE- Last call for notes!
Strings Uniform
-On the note that went home (23.08.22), there was some outdated information regarding the 'Strings Uniform'
Music Uniforms-Band and Strings are as follows:
- White point-collar long sleeved shirt (NOT the winter blouse for girls)
- black formal pants,
- black socks, and
- black school shoes;
- Music Tie
White collared shirts and pants are available from the school uniform shop or may be purchased elsewhere e.g. Kmart, Lowes etc. Music tie, only available from school uniform shop - $20. Please purchase a music uniform prior to the concert.
There has been some confusion around who to return the permission notes to. 'Group Leaders' refers to the leader of the ensemble. The group leaders need to be aware of who is attending the Concourse Concert so that they know numbers and formations for the night. If your child is in more than one ensemble, there are 2 'return slips' on the permission note that can be given to both leaders. If they are in more than 2, they can come and get an extra note or a handwritten note from home will suffice. Group leaders for each ensemble are listed below:
Band- Mr Walmsley
Strings- Mr Mansakhani
Guitar- Lan Zhong
Jnr Dance- Mrs Stanistreet or Mrs Ekas
Snr Dance- Ms Gallagher and Ms Winchester
Year 2 Choir- Ms Mullens, Ms Wickens and Ms Mendes
Kameraigal Choir- Ms Marshall, Mr Oriel and Mrs Sestak
We are really excited to be hosting a Father's Day Stall this year, where children will be able to purchase gifts for fathers and grandfathers (we have lots of special grandfather specific gifts). Children will be issued a token for each gift purchased and they will then come down to the father's day stall and make their selection.
