Life at Artarmon has been extremely busy in the last week. Year 5 students had three days at the Great Aussie Bush Camp, more than 700 students attended the P&C disco, all students participated in our annual Walkathon to help raise money for our school and four students won their way to the NSW State tennis finals. It has been wonderful to see our community thriving in all areas.
P&C DISCO
A massive thank you to all the parents who worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to and on the night of the P&C disco. The buzz in the playground and students spontaneously breaking out into dance routines on the playground were a true indication of the fun and excitement music and friends bring on.
Total funds raised on the night were: $7,970
WALKATHON
The fitness levels of the students yesterday, during our annual Walkathon, were on display as they powered around the track. It was a spectacular day to be outside with the added competitiveness of tallying up laps to be able to collect their sponsorship money to go into the draw to win some amazing prizes.
All sponsorship money will go towards projects designed to improve our outdoor play and learning spaces. We hope to be able to share some of these ideas in the upcoming P&C meetings.
Again it was great to see our 'Yellow Vested Volunteers' helping our students to tally up their laps and be involved in the day. Also a shout out to the parents who supported with cheers and claps from the end of the oval or bottom of 'Heartbreak Hill' to add the extra level of encouragement to keep pace and walk through the pain.

PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION
Through your grade newsletters and communication, information regarding our Term 3 Public Speaking Competition has been distributed. The term focus is designed for students to build their public speaking skills over a period of weeks whilst receiving direct feedback on specific elements to improve. In two weeks time, each child will present their competition speech to the class and in week 10, 1 student per class will be presented with a special certificate.
In Term 4, class winners will have the opportunity to write a new speech to present at a Stage Final to celebrate our students success.
NSW PSSA TENNIS KNOCK OUT - QUARTER FINALS
Congratulations to Ella Hou, Ayumi Ito-Trankiem, Maksim Habarov and Jet Ni who played in the State Tennis Knockout Quarter Finals yesterday against Tamworth Public School. It was well worth the drive to Singleton as the team won 6 of their 8 sets and are going on to verse Yamba Public School in the Semi Finals on Monday. All four players proved their position in the Quarter Finals, hitting some winning cross-court forehands, tricky drop shots and even some aces while showing excellent sportsmanship and supporting each other through each set.
We are very proud of them and can't wait to watch them play in the NSW State Finals on Monday.

For Artarmon Public School’s belated Book Week celebrations, all K-6 students are encouraged to dress up as a book character or dress to the theme ‘Dreaming with eyes open’ on Wednesday 21 September 2022.
If students choose not to dress as a book character, they can wear their normal school uniform. Please note that the costume does not need to be too elaborate. We would encourage parents to use dress-up clothes from home for the event.
Students are also encouraged to bring their book along to school with them if possible.
Tickets for the Concourse concert are now available through Ticketek.
Get your tickets now https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=ARTARMON22
If your child is performing, they do not need a ticket.

PERMISSION NOTE UPDATE- Last call for notes!
Strings Uniform
-On the note that went home (23.08.22), there was some outdated information regarding the 'Strings Uniform'
Music Uniforms-Band and Strings are as follows:
- White point-collar long sleeved shirt (NOT the winter blouse for girls)
- black formal pants,
- black socks, and
- black school shoes;
- Music Tie
White collared shirts and pants are available from the school uniform shop or may be purchased elsewhere e.g. Kmart, Lowes etc. Music tie, only available from school uniform shop - $20. Please purchase a music uniform prior to the concert.
There has been some confusion around who to return the permission notes to. 'Group Leaders' refers to the leader of the ensemble. The group leaders need to be aware of who is attending the Concourse Concert so that they know numbers and formations for the night. If your child is in more than one ensemble, there are 2 'return slips' on the permission note that can be given to both leaders. If they are in more than 2, they can come and get an extra note or a handwritten note from home will suffice. Group leaders for each ensemble are listed below:
Band- Mr Walmsley
Strings- Mr Mansakhani
Guitar- Lan Zhong
Jnr Dance- Mrs Stanistreet or Mrs Ekas
Snr Dance- Ms Gallagher and Ms Winchester
Year 2 Choir- Ms Mullens, Ms Wickens and Ms Mendes
Kameraigal Choir- Ms Marshall, Mr Oriel and Mrs Sestak

If you are interested in this rewarding position, please email strings.artarmonpandc@gmail.com.
