As we find ourselves in the middle of Week 8, Term 3 it won't be long until we are looking at the end of term and the start of our September holidays. The next few weeks are some of the busiest of the year with some major events happening including:
- Tonight: Numeracy Parent evening - Hall 6pm
- Tomorrow: Fox studios recording
- 9th September: Concourse Rehearsal at school
- 15th September: Concourse Concert
- 20th September: Yr 6 Performance
- 21st September: Book Week Dress up celebrations
- 23rd September: P&C Sausage Sizzle
Please ensure if your child is involved in any of these upcoming events, you as a parent know your child is organised and understands what he or she is expected to do or where to be at a particular time.
INVOICES
Invoice reminders were sent out last week and a reminder in last weeks Newsflash. Please understand that unpaid fees for extracurricular activities like excursions and incursions impact the school by having to take money away from core teaching and learning materials. We will resend these next week via email to any families who have outstanding fees. Thanks in advance to those families for the prompt action. If you have any concerns or would like support with your school fees, please email the school.
SASS APPRECIATION WEEK
This week is School Administrative & Support Staff (SASS) Appreciation week. We are so very lucky here at Artarmion with our outstanding team of people who without them we would not function. They are not only the visible and helpful Administration and library staff but our wonderful School Learning & Support Officers (SLSOs) who are in the classroom working with students and teachers to provide the best learning environments and experiences for your children. This may be a designated week to acknowledge and show our appreciation for our SASS team, however, they are appreciated and valued every single day. If you pop into the office or see an SLSO in the playground, don't hesitate to voice your thanks and appreciation for everything they do for our school community.
THE FATHERING PROJECT
What a amazing first event the 'Paper Planes and Pizza' was for our dads, granddads and father figures last Saturday as part of the Fathering Project initiative. The purpose of introducing this initiative into the school and the P&C was purely based on building our community sense of belonging and connection to school through kids and their dads or father figures. The evidence demonstrating fathers’ potential to positively influence their children’s health and mental health, social success and academic achievements is now robust, indisputable, and compelling.
This was clearly evident on the weekend as you can see with images below, a simple event set up to provide an opportunity for our dads to have some quality and slightly competitive time with their children, to make and throw paper planes whilst eating pizza.
A huge thank you to core group of dads who put the effort behind the scenes and the P&C for funding the pizza to make this event happen. I know many more dads have signed up to help for the next event and I am sure this is just the beginning of a community project that will be an integral part of our school and students connection to us as a community and their sense of belonging.
If you are interested in joining the dad's portal, please use the QR code below.
The next event will be Tuesday 15th November 2022 at 6:30pm-more details to come.

This concert will feature our Year Two and Kameraigal Choirs, our Junior and Senior Dance Groups and Guitar Group, Training, Junior, Concert and Senior Strings, Orchestra, Junior, Training, Concert and Senior Bands.
We look forward to sharing this celebration of the arts and our amazingly talented students with you.
PERMISSION NOTE UPDATE- Last call for notes!
Strings Uniform
-On the note that went home (23.08.22), there was some outdated information regarding the 'Strings Uniform'
Music Uniforms-Band and Strings are as follows:
- White point-collar long sleeved shirt (NOT the winter blouse for girls)
- black formal pants,
- black socks, and
- black school shoes;
- Music Tie
White collared shirts and pants are available from the school uniform shop or may be purchased elsewhere e.g. Kmart, Lowes etc. Music tie, only available from school uniform shop - $20. Please purchase a music uniform prior to the concert.
There has been some confusion around who to return the permission notes to. 'Group Leaders' refers to the leader of the ensemble. The group leaders need to be aware of who is attending the Concourse Concert so that they know numbers and formations for the night. If your child is in more than one ensemble, there are 2 'return slips' on the permission note that can be given to both leaders. If they are in more than 2, they can come and get an extra note or a handwritten note from home will suffice. Group leaders for each ensemble are listed below:
Band- Mr Walmsley
Strings- Mr Mansakhani
Guitar- Lan Zhong
Jnr Dance- Mrs Stanistreet or Mrs Ekas
Snr Dance- Ms Gallagher and Ms Winchester
Year 2 Choir- Ms Mullens, Ms Wickens and Ms Mendes
Kameraigal Choir- Ms Marshall, Mr Oriel and Mrs Sestak
For Artarmon Public School’s belated Book Week celebrations, all K-6 students are encouraged to dress up as a book character or dress to the theme ‘Dreaming with eyes open’ on:
Wednesday 21 September 2022
If students choose not to dress as a book character, they can wear their normal school uniform. Please note that the costume does not need to be too elaborate. We would encourage parents to use dress-up clothes from home for the event.
Students are also encouraged to bring their book along to school with them if possible.
K – 2 Parents are invited to attend: K - 2's Book Week Character Parade
When: Wednesday 21 September 2022
Time: 10:00am
Where: McMillan Playground
