Today was an interesting day as I was delivered a letter from a Year One class outlining detailed reasons why our school should get a dog. The class had worked hard together to use high modality words and come up with detailed reasons such as; dogs are amazing companions, great at cheering people up, are playful and will help keep the school safe. All good reasons as you would understand, so I thought it only fair that I pay them a visit and unpack some of their thoughts on how the school could provide these reasons without a fun-loving, furry friend.
In our discussion, I provided, in great detail, my points of rebuttal and was able to allow them to visualise my point of view when we talked about how dogs are not quite trained in using our toilet facilities at school and the potential for disaster if accidents were to occur and we had to hose children down.
We had a lot of fun diving deeper into their reasons and looking at different ways to build a persuasive argument. I would like to take this time to apologise to parents as I may have given them some examples and ideas to use when trying to convince their parents for a new toy or something the think they need.
Here are some images our rigorous discussion.
TERM 4 INVOICES
Today you should have received your child’s Term 4 invoice via email. Thank you in advance for your prompt payment so we are able to finalise our accounts for the end of year.
NOT RETURNING IN 2023 OR RETURNING LATE
The first day of school for most students next year will be Tuesday 31st January, 2023. Year 5OC students will begin on Wednesday 1st February, 2023 and new Kindergarten students will be informed by letter of their starting date.
It is vital that we know if your child/children will NOT be returning to Artarmon or will be returning late next year. Some families take extended holidays in January/ February and we need to know your return date so that your enrolment can be counted. This information will enable the school to plan for staffing and classing needs.
This note does not apply to Year 6 students.
Please click here to fill in the form if your child is not returning or returning late in 2023.

The explorers stood in the gross wasteland, which is full of garbage and plastic. They were slightly frightened because the world had ended and there will be a war at the Elysium. They were wearing watery bubbles, which were filled with oxygen, to keep them alive from the deadly, poisonous toxins in the atmosphere. by Porsche Manmor
