PSSA Senior Girls Knockout Cricket: Match Report

On Tuesday the 26th of March, our senior girls knockout cricket team played their first round match against Newport Public School, at Artarmon Reserve. Newport won the toss and decided to bowl first. We made steady progress throughout our batting innings and compiled a respectable total of 71 from our 25 overs. Caitlin Janssen was our standout, batting for the majority of the innings and top scoring for Artarmon. She even soldiered on after getting hit on the thumb from a rearing delivery, which she dispatched towards the fine leg boundary.

After a brief lunch break, it was our to turn to bowl. We tried hard with our bowling and fielding. However, Newport’s batswomen were outstanding and hit several boundaries off good deliveries. The highlight of our fielding innings was Grace Harding’s run out at the bowlers end.

Newport chased down our total of 71, with 9 wickets in hand. Though we didn’t win, the Artarmon Senior Girls PSSA knockout cricket team represented our school proudly, through their magnificent sportsmanship and positive attitude. Everyone in the team showed great improvement in their cricketing ability over the past few weeks of training and had fun with their teammates.

Thank you for the warm welcome into the Artarmon P&C, it is an honour and a privilege to be leading our efforts this year. I wanted to send a short note to introduce our team and the plan for the year ahead.

The P&C executive is made up of a diverse group of people including the President, Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Vice President (regional). In addition, the Sub Committee is made up of Band, Strings, Gardening, Multicultural, Social & Fundraising, Traffic, Sustainability, Uniform, Canteen, Website and Voluntary Contributions.

Our P&C has many new Executive & Committee members this year, thank you for being part of our community. It is clear how committed the Executive & Committee members are to our children, school and the Artarmon community. I would like to thank Daniel for his support during the transition. It cannot be understated the great progress which has already been made by our P&C! We want you all to enjoy everything that Artarmon Public School (APS) can offer, from school activities for the kids, to fundraisers for making APS even more awesome, to gardening.

On behalf of the Artarmon P&C a special thank you for the parents who helped organise, manage and run as well as those who baked and volunteered at the election day BBQ and cake stall over the weekend. Your contribution goes a long want to supporting our kids and our school.

My priority for these first few months will be to immerse myself in the running of a P&C and absorb as much as I can. I would also love to meet as many people as I can - if you see me about, please introduce yourself!

Please come and join our P&C meeting this Wednesday 27March from 7pm which will be held in the school hall.

Additionally, all year 3 parents please come and join the Social and Fundraising committee on Wednesday 3 April from 7pm. Location details to be notified shortly via SZapp.

With that said, have an incredible and safe Easter Holiday filled with family, fun and maybe even a little bit of chocolate!

New volunteers

Payments due

Invoices have gone out now for ensemble fees and instrument hire. Please email the treasurer (stringstreasurer@gmail.com) if you have not received one or if you have any questions about your invoice.

Creative Kids voucher

Remember, if you want to use the Creative Kids voucher, please log on to the music parent portal at https://portal.msmusic.com.au/artarmonmusic and provide the details. As per previous instructions, if you wish to use the Creative Kids voucher you must pay $100 less than your invoice total. We will then credit the $100 against your invoice when we have redeemed the voucher from Service NSW. You must do this before your pay.

Please update your child’s class details and your contact details in the parent portal – this is important for a lot of reasons. Just do it. Please.
