It was wonderful to celebrate Public Education Week with you all last week and see our school thrive whilst showcasing our students, teachers, creative arts, learning spaces and playground games with you all. Thank you for showing up and being apart of our outstanding school community and helping celebrate our amazing school. It was wonderful to have everyone here and connect with you throughout the morning. Thank you to our music, dance, choir and Kindergarten teachers for their performances throughout the morning, you were all fabulous!

OLYMPIC DAY

How much fun was last Wednesday! What a day and what an opportunity to celebrate the Olympics and get the students outside on the new oval engaged in a range of modified Olympic events with friendly competition.

This day would not have been possible without our organising teachers and the effort they went into to make the day such a huge success.

It was great to see the students get involved in the theme of the day.

MUSIC CAMP

To add to the above article around celebrating public education and celebrating our school community, I want to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to our parent volunteers for music camp over the weekend. To those who planned, organised and executed the whole weekend and to those who helped supervise and stay overnight, you are amazing. Experiences and opportunities like this for our children would not happen if it were not for your direct community involvement and support.

NUDE FOOD

Our student led Green Team over the last couple of years have been running our nude food initiative across the whole school. The reason behind this is to reduce the amount of single use plastic rubbish in our playground. Can I ask that you all please get behind this initiative and support our students as the rubbish in the playground is becoming a significant issue. When packing lunch boxes, please leave the plastic wrapping at home as this helps keep our school clean. Our school bins have a logo on the front, voted by the students that clearly states, 'There is no planet B'!

KINDERGARTEN 2025!

If you know of anyone in our area who has a child starting Kindergarten in 2025 and they have not started the enrolment process yet, please let them know to do as soon as possible. Our first orientation day for our 2025 students is in two weeks!

Congratulations to our class-elected SRC Representatives for the second semester of 2024. They will be working closely with Ms Smith and Ms Wickens to develop leadership skills and support the students, as well as the school community.

Student Representative Council Semester 2, 2024
Student Representative Council (SRC) is a group of students elected by their fellow students to represent all students in school. SRC representatives take on the responsibility to represent their class at SRC meetings by actively taking notes and then reporting back to their class. On Wednesday in Week 2, students in Year 2 participated in a Forces and Movement incursion in our school hall run by Kaleidoscope Science. This incursion reinforced our science unit, focusing on push and pull forces. Students learnt about many types of forces and tested these forces through different and fascinating experiments. Many students were left wondering ‘Was this magic, or was this science?’

The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge finishes Week 5 this term. The last day for students to add books to their reading lists online will be Friday August 23 2024.

There is a handy shortcut in your child’s Student Portal that will take them directly to the student site. As this is a NSW Department of Education Program, students use the same username and password to access the website that they use to sign into their Student Portal and the computers at school.

The Olympic-themed trivia night was held last weekend and was a great success!

There were plenty of tables dressed for the occasion with the 'Brainy Bunch' and the 'Teacher' tables going all out with their decorations and enthusiasm dressing up. Unfortunately, it didn't help them answer the questions correctly or win on the night.

The team that won was Le Freak C'est Chic and they were dressed up in French Attire.

There were some great sporting logo questions, a music round and a great variety of questions (and some very strange answers).

We had some good heads/tales games, some fun coin toss games, and a silent auction.

Everyone who attended had a great night.
