FRIDAY FUN DAY
This Friday all students K-6 are to wear their sports uniform and bring some food to have a picnic with their class to celebrate the end of a long building project. Students will be able to participate in a morning of games and acivities provided by Sports Pro.
The hall will be open for parents and community members to take the opportunity to view the new facilities and appreciate what our community has worked so very hard to achieve. Tea and coffee will be available in the hall kitchen.
ANZAC SERVICE
ANZAC Day occurs on 25 April every year. On this day we honour all the men and women who have participated in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations around the world, including the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I. Incredibly, more than 100 years have passed since Australia’s involvement in the First World War.
An ANZAC service wil be held at school on Friday 12th April for the students and staff to pay their respects.
Parent Information Sessions
There will be several parent information sessions held throughout 2019 to support parents working with their children in a number of key areas including literacy, numeracy, digital technologies and wellbeing.
The literacy and numeracy sessions will be delivered in Term 2 in the format of a 30 minute information session to inform parents about the NSW syllabuses used at Artarmon PS, then parents can choose to attend one or two different sessions for teachers to demonstrate some hands on activities based on the age of their children. You will need to RSVP to all parent information sessions and the wellbeing workshops will incur a cost. More information to come but in the meantime – please save the dates!
Numeracy Parent Information Session – Monday 27th May from 6-7.30pm
Literacy Parent Information Session – Wednesday 12th June from 6-7.30pm
K - 2 Language of Friendship Parent Workshop – Wednesday 7th August 6.30-8pm

STUDENTS IN CANBERRA
Last week the students and teachers from Yr 6 went on an educational tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
The students are to be commended for their manners and the way they represented Artarmon Public School whilst away. A huge thank you to the Year 6 teachers who gave up their own family time to take the students away and provide them with these important learning experiences.

WINNING HOUSE: FLYNN |
Committee Meeting next Tuesday April 9th, 6:30pm (Music room)
Please come along to the strings committee meeting next week. This is your chance to meet Mr Mansukhani and your fellow committee members and find out what’s going on in the wonderful world of strings.
Mothers’ Day Concert May 9th
Let me know if you can help out on the Thursday morning for our annual Mothers’ Day concert early next term. I’ll need some hands on deck to pick up the yummy finger buns and some on deck to help out at the stall. Others will be needed to corral the music students in an orderly fashion (good luck with that).
Payments due
Invoices have gone out now for ensemble fees and instrument hire. Please email the treasurer (stringstreasurer@gmail.com) if you have not received one or if you have any questions about your invoice.
Creative Kids voucher
Remember, if you want to use the Creative Kids voucher, please log on to the music parent portal at https://portal.msmusic.com.au/artarmonmusic and provide the details. As per previous instructions, if you wish to use the Creative Kids voucher you must pay $100 less than your invoice total. We will then credit the $100 against your invoice when we have redeemed the voucher from Service NSW. You must do this before your pay.
Please update your child’s class details and your contact details in the parent portal – this is important for a lot of reasons.
