Our school is the heartbeat of the Artarmon community
Our school has always had tremendous support for school programs and community events organised by the P&C. Each year the P&C fundraising committee is traditionally run by parents of children in Year 3. This is a great opportunity for parents to get involved in the school community, volunteer a little time to support the school, meet new parents and have a lot of fun in the process. Having this system also allows the load to be shared and keep ideas fresh and build community spirit.
We understand that we live very busy lives balancing home and work committments. Giving a little time to be involved with community events shows your children how much you value the importance of our school. The fundraising team is looking for parents to give a little time to help out with getting the movie night underway -
It is a great way to be part of a fabulous team and have fun and a few laughs!
If you are a Year 3 parent and have received some of the notifications sent via the Schoolzine app, please click on the link and see if you have some spare time to help volunteer.
Staffing changes
Miss Elise Attard has been successful in gaining a relieving Assistant Principal position for the remainder of the year at Seven Hills North PS. We wish Miss Attard all the best with her new role. Mrs Stephanie Sun will be taking 6EA for the remainder of the year and Ms Bridget Slater will be working in the library with Mrs Ros Cartland.
Congratulations to Sean Suzuki
Last week Sean Suzuki of Year 6 played as a team member in the Sydney North PSSA soccer team at the State Championships.
The boys played extremely well with excellent sportsmanship throughout the cold challenging conditions in Bathurst. They did themselves, their families, schools and Sydney North proud!
In addition to winning the competition 7 of the 14 boys (including our very own Sean) were selected to represent NSW PSSA at the National School Sport boys Football Championships later in the year.
Congratulations Sean on a great result! We wish you all the best in the next level of competition. Artarmon students and community are very proud of you!

WINNING HOUSE: FLYNN |
On Monday 3rd June the Year 5 & 6 PSSA Boys and Girls Soccer Knockout teams took part in the Sydney North Soccer Knockout Competition. The students, Mrs Tully and many generous parent volunteers, travelled to the first match against Northbridge at Northbridge Oval.
The girls team were on first with the boys and parents on the sideline cheering them on. All of the cheering and encouragement must have spurred the girls on as they took away the win with an outstanding score of 7-0.
The boys were up next. Their competition was tough. First Northbridge scored, 1-0. Then Artarmon scored to make it 1-1. Northbridge put another goal in making it 2-1. Artarmon fought back, demonstrating some great game play and evened out the scores, making it 2-2. With 10 minutes to go and both teams thinking they would be going into extra time, Artarmon scored 2 more goals making the final score 4-2! Both the girls and the boys were through to the next round!
Both teams were lucky enough to have the next knockout game organised in advance to play against Neutral Bay at Cammeray Oval. The girls were up first. They were nervous considering last year Neutral Bay beat and eliminated them out of the 2018 Knockout Competition. The girls utilised their team, setting up some amazing game play, made some great passes and had some outstanding shots on goal. Neutral Bay were no match for Artarmon as the girls won an impressive 8-1.
In high spirits the boys ran on next and the girls and parents cheered them on. The boys always talk about Neutral bay being ‘tough competition’ and this game was exactly that. The boys were very even at 2-2 right up to the last 3 minutes. With a penalty in the box in last few minutes against Artarmon, it was not looking good for us. Neutral Bay shot the goal and scored. The final whistle blew. Artarmon had lost 3-2. It was very unlucky. The boys should be very proud of their efforts. It was so close and overall, a very entertaining day of soccer.
A big congratulations to all the soccer stars of the day. A big thank you to all the parents who assisted with travel for the day and for cheering the students on - we could not have done it without your help. Good luck to the girls who will be playing the next round in the next few weeks. Stay tuned...
Mrs Bethany Tully
PSSA soccer coach

Thank you to the parents and carers who came along to support our competitors. Congratulations on all competitors on your effort and determination throughout the carnival.
