EDUCATION WEEK 2019
Parents and grandparents are welcomed to our classrooms tomorrow. There will be musical performances in the morning and open classrooms at 10.15am.
Please remember this is an opportunity for you to share the great things that are happening in classrooms with your child. If you would like individual information about your child, please make an appointment with the teacher.
Recess will be from 11.00am-11.25am and everyone is welcome to stay and spend that time with you child.
Every student, every voice
Authentic participation
Student voice is more than just having a say. Valuing and actioning the ideas, opinions and expertise of all students has significant impact for student wellbeing.
Partners in learning
Student perspectives, experiences and aspirations shape and enrich our schools and communities and actively influence our decision-making as we strive to be the best education system in Australia.
Respectful relationships
Working collaboratively with other students and teachers our young people grow into engaged learners and ethical citizens able to contribute positively to their school and wider community.
Connecting communities
We connect our diverse communities by creating and sustaining inclusive, interactive learning environments that use advanced technologies to promote and extend student influence beyond the classroom walls.
Change makers
A culture of high expectations empowers our students to build a shared sense of purpose, self-value and belonging that will prepare them for future lives as active citizens in an increasingly complex and dynamic society.
SCHOOLYARD/SOCIAL MEDIA - RUMOURS AND GOSSIP!
What is a rumour?
Rumours are a piece of information or a story that have not been verified. What this means, is that the person telling the story does not know for certain if it is true or not. Most of the time, people who spread rumours do not bother to determine if there is any truth to what they are saying. This becomes more complicated with the use of social media such as Whats App and WeChat.
Typically, rumours are spread from person to person and can change slightly each time they are told. A bit like the school game ‘Chinese Whispers’. As a result, they can become exaggerated and altered over time. As an example: a parent reported to other parents that the school assesses the students in OC differently for Selective School Exams. Of course this is not true as the school would always do their best to be fair and equitable for all students.
Unfounded rumours can also cause unnecessary worry and concern for families in our community.
We are all working together to keep our students supported and so it is important to communicate concerns with teachers and the school and not just other parents.
Opportunity Class and Selective High School Information Evening
Ms Lily Barclay from the High Performance unit will be joining us on Monday 28 October to give us information on the selective process.
Keep this date open if you may be interested in this.

Get involved in Band: Committee meeting next week Monday 12th August
We hold a Band Committee meeting once per term to review the year's band activities and plan future events. All band parents are welcome, whether or not you are on the Band Committee. This term's meeting is next week on Monday 12th August at 7pm in the Music Room. Coming along to the meeting is a great way to find out what's going on and how you can help.
In particular, we are seeking a Band Convenor for 2020. This could easily be shared between a couple of people. Now is a good time to find out what the role entails before the current convenor leaves the school. Please email band@artarmonpandc.org.au to find out more.
