Welcome back to all our familes and a special welcome to new families who have joined our Artarmon community this term.
We hope you all had a relaxing holiday break and enjoyed some quality family time.
Term 4 is always a busy term with lots of exciting things to look forward too. Make sure you check out the school calendar on our website to add events to your schedule
NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
Over this term and into the Christmas holidays you will see some new playground equipment being erected in our school. Part of this equipment is funded from the $75,000 community grant the P&C were sucessful in obtaining and the rest will be funded by the school. Playground equipment will be added to the McMillan Rd playground and the Abbott Rd side between the hall and the COLA.
SAFETY CONCERNS
The start of a new term is a good time to have a conversation with your child/ren around their safety travelling to and from school. We are seeing a lot of children cross both McMillan and Abbot Rd in dangerous areas and infront of cars. Please remind your children and model correct behaviour when with them about crossing the roads at the zebra crossing and traffic lights provided.
ART AUCTION
Our Art Auction is coming together thanks to Marina Grace and Jane Absolum. The website will be live next week so watch this space!
On Wednesday the 30th October the hall will be open from 2.30pm to 3.30pm for parents to view the art work. The auction will close at the completion of the Multicultural Fair on the 3rd of November.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We wish to advise you that a student in our school community is currently receiving medical treatment for leukemia. This student will be attending school on occasion while undergoing treatment.
As a consequence of treatment, this student's ongoing health is at risk if she comes into contact with infectious illnesses, in particular: chicken pox, measles, mumps, whopping cough or shingles. If your son or daughter is suspected of having one of these illnesses it is very important that he/she does not attend school. It is also important that while your child is unwell he/she remains at home until he/she is no longer contagious. Information on infectious conditions can be found on national health websites
e.g. www. health.gov.au or alternatively contact your local GP.
If your child has chicken pox, measles, mumps, whopping cough or shingles or is suspected of having an illness please contact the school immediately. This will allow the school to assess the probable contact and therefore exposure of our student to the disease. Notification can then be given to the parents and medical specialists.
As a school community we value your support in relation to the well being of all of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact Louise Green if you have any questions.
Yours sincerely,
Louise Green
Principal
When Miss Veenstra told us we had to be at school by 8am, were weren't impressed but getting up early for the fun day we had at Skellern Cup was definitely worth it. The day was filled with laughter, cheering and lots of goals. There were prizes won, signatures signed and sausage sandwiches eaten.
Our team ended up coming second out of 57 teams and we also had the highest overall point score. Even though we didn't win and there were a few sad faces the day was still a great success.
We learnt that you don't have to be a professional soccer player to have fun at the Skellern Cup.

Skellern Cup 2019 Year 3 and 4
On the 25th of September, Year 3 and 4 participated in the Girls Skellern Cup Football Tournament. We had never played together before but demonstrated our eagerness to give our best to the team and represent Artarmon Public School. We played 4 games in total and won 3 and drew for one of them. For a team that never played together before and with some of us never even played soccer before, we played extremely well and got to experience teamwork and the spirit of the game. Overall, we didn't win the cup but we still had an amazing time. We can't for next year!

Music Camp Final Arrangements
It's almost time for music camp, I'm sure all the students are excited! The final details have been emailed to parents, if you have not received an email subject 'Music Camp 2019 – Final Information' or you have any questions please contact artarmonmusiccamp@gmail.com.
Please remember:
Make way for the buses! Do not park outside the school on Macmillan or Abbott Roads when dropping off or collecting your child for music camp as the buses need space to park.
Do not send your child to camp if they are sick! Whilst we hope all musicians will be able to attend the weekend, no child will enjoy or benefit from it if they are unwell. Just let us know by calling Joanne on the phone number provided in the information you have been emailed.
Please be patient when signing your child in and out. There are a lot of children involved and our parent volunteers will be doing their best to make everything run smoothly. Remember that the admin procedures are for the benefit and safety of your child.
We all owe huge thanks to the music camp organisers, who are a group of parent volunteers from band and strings, led by Joanne Wang (mum of Ashley and Jennifer Ou in strings), assisted by:
- Ruping Xie (Xielin Yan 4SA/SS)
- Rachel Yao (Kevin Wang 6MS/SB)
- Karen P’ng (Mark P’ng 5LW/CS)
- Paco Luo (Zhan Luo 6MS/SB)
- Yihong Wang (Andrew Zhang 6MS/SB)
- Yang Lin (Robinson Lu 6EA/SS)
- Sherry Qiao (Sophie Yi 6MS/SB)
- Annie Liu/Frankie Chen (Hayden Chen 6EA/SB)
- Grace Wang (Andre Chen 6MS/SB)
- Ivy Li (Cordelia Xie 6EA/SB)
Many thanks also to all the parents who will be helping over the weekend. We couldn't do it without you!
