Dear Parents, 

As educators and parents, we share the responsibilty to support our children.

It is critical that we all stay calm and follow good hygiene practices but it is also important that we reassure our children that they are not in danger and we are all here to support them. 

As I have previously advised the Coronavirus situation is changing on a daily, or even hourly, basis. 

Please be reassured that as soon as we receive any information we will forward it immediately to families.

I wanted to update you on a number of actions that are being undertaken to support best health and hygiene practices in our school. These actions will assist in limiting the spread of germs including viruses in our school communities.

• Enhanced cleaning which will take place in all schools from 18 March 2020.
• The Department will continue to be in regular contact with all schools to understand current levels of supplies of soap and hygiene products.  
• All schools will receive additional provisions of soap and hygiene supplies, such as hand sanitizer.

Late Pick-Up of Children

It has come to our attention that some students are regularly being picked up late from school. Please remember that Artarmon Public School hours are from 8:55 am to 2:55 pm.  As employees of the NSW Department of Education, teachers have a duty of care.  A duty of care is the legal obligation to provide reasonable care which includes the provision of adequate supervision of students.

If parents are not present at pick up times, students will be sent to the school office for collection. Whilst we are aware that situations do arise occasionally where late pick-ups are unavoidable, we strongly encourage all parents and carers to arrive on time to collect their child at 2:55 pm.

If you cannot collect your child at 2:55 pm, before and after-school care is available for Artarmon Public School students. It is located within the school grounds or at nearby locations. Children play with friends and take part in a variety of supervised activities. Fees are charged. For information on the before and after school providers please visit the school office.

Dear parents,

Due to advice from the Department of Health around keeping our distance from each other and limiting meetings to essential gatherings, we have decided to cancel next weeks P&C meeting.

I have been overwhelmed by the number of parents that have emailed me and stopped me to ask what they can be doing to support teachers and the school during this time. It has been a really timely reminder of what a supportive and amazing school community we have.

I want to thank all the teachers who have been doing such an incredible job at looking after our kids and making sure that there is minimal disruption to the school day. You are truly amazing and we deeply appreciate everything that you are doing.

The next P&C meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 29^th April 2020. I will update everyone closer to the date.

Hello Strings Parents,

Please check Newsflash weekly for the latest news and reminders.

In light of COVID-19 constantly evolving and as a school music program, we are being guided by the advice we are receiving from Department of Education. You have received notice that strings rehearsals have been cancelled from Tuesday 17^th March til the end of Term 1.

Training Strings group tutorials and one on one tutorials will continue until further notice. We encourage all strings students to do regular practice at home.

Don’t forget to subscribe to SZApp for String Ensemble News. Found under Manage tab, choose the String Ensemble to keep in the loop with any alerts to upcoming events and updated news.

Reminders

Please check your email for invoice and payment details. If you intend to use Creative Kids vouchers towards payment for Strings fees, please ensure you pay $100 less than the total invoice. Please consider the administration headache for the Strings Team volunteers if you decide later that you would like to use the Creative Kids Voucher. Thanks for your understanding.

Helping with Strings

We still need to fill many volunteer roles to assist with Strings 2020. Certain roles only require an hour for one term. Other roles require a little more time. The more people who help out, the less any single person has to do. The smooth running of the Strings Ensemble relies on the dedicated team of parent volunteers.
