STAFF CHANGES
Congratulations to Ms Louise Kennedy and Mr Nicholas Sherley who will be our new Assistant Principals in 2019.
Mrs Kate Ash has also been successful achieving the Assistant Principal position at Dee Why Public School and will be taking up that position in 2019.
BUILDING NEWS
The new entry to the school is now partially open and we have begun to use it. The builders will now work on the driveway into the new building on Barton Rd and also repairing the footpath there. We should have more open to us in the next few weeks.
NEARLY THERE!
CAROLS NIGHT - SAVE THE DATE
The bands, string ensembles, guitar groups and choirs will help us celebrate Christmas with our traditional carols night on FRIDAY 7 DECEMBER AT 6PM.
PRESENTATION DAYS
Each year Artarmon Public School have Presentation Day Assemblies. At these assemblies we honour the academic achievements of children from our school. Each class teacher has six medals to distribute. These include:
Two for High Academic Achievement, one for Mathematics, one for English, one for Citizenship and one for another Key Learning Area (KLA).
There are also grade awards for Overall Citizenship and ESL (English as a Second Language).
Teachers use results from class assessments, observations and collaborative discussions with the grade team and supervisor, to decide upon the award winners.
As you would appreciate, teachers take the presentation of achievement awards very seriously and spend many hours reviewing the data and in discussions to ensure the medals are given to deserving winners.
10 December Kindergarten Presentation – 9.00am Abbot Rd COLA
Yr 1 & 2 Presentation – 10.00am Abbot Rd COLA
11 December Yr 3-6 Presentation – 10.00 am The Concourse, Chatswood

END OF YEAR
At the end of each year at Artarmon Public School we are busy cleaning up, moving classrooms and furniture and celebrating with our students a year of success.
On the last day of school, Wednesday 19 December, all classes will be going to Centennial Park for their end of year picnic. This takes the place of class parties and is a fun day for all.
Save The Date – Christmas Event December 7
This should be a great Christmas event on Friday 7th December.
Wonderful music and choirs from 6pm and fun and entertainment for families.
More details soon but it should be a relaxing end of school year (almost) evening for everyone.
Rebel Sports
Did you know that Rebel Sports will donate funds to our school for purchases we make?
The Rebel Sports Community Kickbacks program supports school sports equipment all year round.
Simply join the rebel active loyalty program (its free) and nominate Artarmon Public School on your account, either in store or online. 5% of all member purchases will go directly back to the school as in store credit for sport equipment purchases.
Northern Beaches Tunnel Community Update
Questions about the tunnel were raised at a P&C meeting last year and it was decided that the issue was best addressed by wider community group action.
The P&C has maintained a watching brief and kept in touch with other bodies leading this activity, including the Artarmon Progress Association and Willoughby Council.
Currently, the Roads and Maritime Service is accepting submissions about the tunnel, which anyone is free to make, more details here. Environment assessments for public comment and planning applications will follow.
Next P&C Meeting
The next P&C Meeting is Wednesday 28th November at 7pm in School Staff Room.
Everyone is welcome, this will be our final meeting for 2018.
Daniel McDougall
P&C President, Artarmon Public School
Congratulations to Senior Band for a great performance with the Northern Youth Symphonic Wind! It was a treat to hear Northern Youth too and get a taste of what may be the next step in their musical journey. About 50% of NYSW are current or former APS students!
