SCHOOL CAPTAINS SPEAK TO PRINCIPALS

I had the great pleasure of joining our School Captains at the NSW Principal Induction Conference. They were asked to talk to new Principals about the role a Principal has within the school and how it impacts on them.

What a great job they did. I have to say that I was a very proud Principal as I listened to them speak.

As the handover process in in progress, please be patient with us as get up to speed with this fantastic program.

The strings program is only open to Year 3 students and above. To date all spots have been filled so please come back next year for the next intake.

Diary Dates

Wednesday 26 February	NO Orchestra rehearsal – due to Year 5 camp
Thursday 27 February	Concert Strings rehearsal is going ahead.
Thursday 7 May	Mothers Day Performance in the morning
Sat/Sun May 30th and 31st	Music Intensive (all groups except Training Strings)
Tentative Saturday 13 June	Chatswood Eisteddfod (for only for Concert and Senior Strings at the moment)

Creative Kids Voucher

The Artarmon P&C music program is a registered provider of the Creative Kids voucher. An email has been sent with instructions on how to use your Creative Kids Voucher for Strings.

If you will be taking advantage of this, your first step is to:

Apply for a voucher for your child on the Service NSW website: go to https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-creative-kids-voucher.

Please log into the Parent Portal and provide details by completing the form online. If you wish to use the Creative Kids Voucher you must pay $100 less than your invoice total. We will then credit the $100 against your invoice when we have redeemed the voucher from Service NSW. This only applies to school ensemble fees and not tuition fees.

Reminders

Please update your child class details and any other contact details that may have changed on the Parent Portal as this is important for scheduling and communication purposes. https://portal.msmusic.com.au/artarmonmusic

Helping with the Strings – Volunteers needed

All the administration of the strings program is completed entirely by volunteers. We need a number of new parent volunteers for 2020 to fill empty roles. The more people who help out, the less any single person has to do! Remember, the smooth running of band relies on a dedicated team of parent volunteers who connect with the school community & gain a better understanding of the music program & observe the amazing musical progress of the students.

THANK YOU to all the parents who have already stepped in to help with the running of Strings 2020.

The 4 roles that still need to be filled are listed below, please respond with which role would suit you and your available time best.

Dear parents,

At the September 2019 P&C meeting a P&C Hygiene Committee was formed to address a number of issues and concerns around toilet hygiene issues. The committee has been working closely with Principal Mrs Green with teachers and staff to improve school toilet hygiene.

To maintain appropriate hygiene standard of our school toilets we have identified a few areas that we need to work on but we can’t do this alone! We are calling on all parents to talk to their children. We have identified 3 key areas that if improved, we believe would greatly improve overall standards.

Talk to your children about:

Flushing the toilet and washing hands
Report any toilet malfunction or issues to the school office immediately
Use the toilets appropriately and not to flush anything down the toilets that doesn’t belong there.

As parents, please note that adults are NOT allowed to enter student toilet due to safety reasons.

If you have any concerns or questions, please talk to staff of the school office.

Band Rehearsals

All band rehearsals have started. Training Band had their first rehearsal last week with a great turn out!

Well done Training Band students and ‘thank you’ to all the Training Band parents who came along to see their children at their first band rehearsal and to help with Training Band!

Keep a look out for emails from your Band Coordinator(s) regarding any changes to band rehearsals and for band updates.

Creative Kids Voucher – Last Chance

This week is the last opportunity to use your Creative Kids voucher for Band. If you have not already done so and wish to use a Creative Kids voucher towards band, please log into the Parent Portal and provide details by completing the form online. We will then credit the $100 against your invoice when we have redeemed the voucher from Service NSW. You must do this before you pay your band invoice.

Invoices

Confirming Semester 1 invoices have been issued. Please check your email for invoice details. The payment of invoices is due by the 28^th of February and prompt on time payment is greatly appreciated.

If you intend to use a Creative Kids voucher towards the payment of band fees, please ensure you pay $100 less than the total of your Semester 1 invoice.
